I went to my first game last night. I didn't plan on going and just took off with my 6 year old nephew in tow (his first game ever). It was great, and he even got to meet CJ Papa and Stan Fischler before the game. We also donated some cans of food and got 2 free tickets to the game on December 23rd, so if anyone is around here is going let me know and we can meet up at some point. I don't know where the tickets will be until I get to the game but I have a hunch it will be the obstructed view area.

Anyhow, on to the Ice Breakers.

I was surprised during a commercial timeout to see girls with pom poms dancing in some of the aisles. I had noticed 2 of them earlier, even though they weren't dancing, because of their outfits. I originally thought they were some overzealous fans (girls) that wanted to show off their butts. I even took a photo of one but it was so dark and bad. I'll add it anyway. haha. I also took a short video but like a lamebrain my batteries were nearly dead form the start last night. Thank goodness the cold of the rink kept them alive for longer. The video is here:

What next? The Islanders Ice Melters? For 10 bucks you get a lapdance down stairs at the pub?

This idea wouldn't be so bad if they made them look a little more like cheerleaders... a skirt bottom to match the pom poms - instead of a bikini bottom. I think this idea was a ploy to make it look like there are more asses in seats (no pun intended) at the games.

For 10 bucks?!?! That pub would get more patrons than the game would. :rotflmao:

ahh you were in what 331? 332?

Personally, i think it's all in fun. Nobody held a gun to these girls heads and said they had to take the job.

Somewhere along the way someone decided that hockey could not possibly stand up on it's own around here and created a cavalcade of distractions for us the fans. I guess they feel a blizzard of jersey concepts, ice girls, ice dancers, etc. will keep our collective minds off of what's actually happening on the ice over the last 20 years.

Yup. we were in 331 with our backs to the wall.

Next up the New York Islanders Ice Cube Strippers, where their clothes melt like ice cubes in the sun on a warm summer day.

I think that sums it up.

Give me a solid team, organ music and that's it.

If we're gonna be in year 1 of a rebuilding phase, then we might as well do it with Ice Girls and Ice Breakers.

Whats wrong with a little female entertainment, damn I just wish I was back in LI to enjoy it.

And yeah, I'm just a dirty old man, or is it a sexy senior citizen?

I'm with you Bill. If it's ok with the girls to dance around in skimpy outfits, who am I to argue. ;)
