wow Ive been on this site a while and overlooked this thread.my nickname Whiplash has nothing to do with hockey.I've been racing demolition derbies at riverhead raceway for 20 years. In demo racing we dont use numbers we use nicknames for the spectator interaction.my real name is Bob or Bobby but more people call me by my nickname in person than my real name.not a day goes by where i play my voicemail or answering machine and hearing someone asking for whip or whiplash so i use it for my screenname where ever i go on the net.

with apologies to anyone affiliated with the *real* Gilligan's Island:

The ship's aground on the shore of this
Hockey crazy isle
With Gilligan, the Skipper too,
The Millionaire and his wife,
A movie star, the Professor and Mary Ann,
Here on Ted Nolan's Isle!

Hmm. How would you cast this?
Gilligan = ________
The Skipper = Webby (aka voice of reason)
Millionaire/Wife = hmmm.... anyone other than Cupz & IQ refined enough for this?
A Movie star = has to be our newly declared Bobby Whiplash - unless someone else in here has movie credits
Last Man Running
The Professor (welcome GD Prof)
Now all we need is Mary Ann (Kristie? 7th?)
Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.

What's up with your buddy Gravel's Islander car?
I sold it all, retired and moved to Fabulous Las Vegas!

I'll pass on the painting. But let us know when you're racing. Riverhead is only a stones throw for me.

And Gilligan could be Depot or Sybo.

Okay, if this has been done before, I apologize, but I've been wanting to post a thread like this for quite a while. Everybody's name on this board (or handle, sign on, username whatever) seems to have some sort of explanation for why it was chosen. Some seem to be fairly obvious (but maybe not), some defy explanation. Since we are at the All Star break, I thought it would be cool to have everyone, including the new members, explain why they have chosen their unique monikers on this board.

I'll start, let's see what happens. This could be a pretty cool thread.

I am Rifleman 22. I chose this for two reasons. First, Bossy 22 was already taken. Second, "Rifleman" was probably the coolest nickname ever given to a hockey player. I remember reading a front cover headline in the old Islander News on Mike Bossy and it called him "The Rifleman". That is what I called him ever since. It is with reverence for my favorite Islander and hockey player of all time that I have chosen this handle.

Now, what's your name??????

:isles:

Let's see...and I will try and not make this a brain buster....

Feel Flows - Beach Boys off of their Surf's Up album. A Carl Wilson song, very underrated.

The Surf's Up album is NOT a surfing album, it's actually an amazing 1970s era Beach Boys album. Don't discount the 70's!!!!

Quasi Psychadelic Beach Boys.
A ride! Now that's a good idea!!
