Purging a Sim wont matter.  The Isles aren't going to bring up Smith or Jesse or Colliton to play 4th line minutes.  They'd rather those kids play 20+ minutes a night at Bridgeport.

Yeah, but it allows guys like Comeau and Jackman to stay up without getting into number problems.

how does releasing one player on the 4th line open up playing slots and time for two players?

Dont let Tambellini back thru the door. ;)

Tamby will be back......bet on it.

Are you looking to go double or nothing?

Look, Webby I'm with you. He should be gone. But because he has a two way deal I doubt the team would pay him to stay down at Bridgeport. And I doubt they would put him on waivers.

Just sayin.

His style would be a perfect fit for the Wild under Lemaire but they are looking to possibly trade defense for offense as they are just under the cap so IMO, a team like them might only take a guy like Sim on re-entry at half the cost.

Watch, he'll go unclaimed and score the winner tonight in Pitt.

He had better or we will put him on waivers again.

Once Comrie and Okposo come back, there will be like 15 forwards if Sim is still around, so if he is off the team, the numbers get less hairy, and someone like Jackman won't have to be sent to Bridgeport to get to the maximum roster amount.

Holiday roster freeze?
If that's what you're referring to its december 19th thru 27th.

no team can make trades, waive or send down players for "conditioning stints".

Sim cleared per Botta

Quote:

1:05 pm - Jon Sim has cleared waivers and will remain with the Islanders. However, Sim will not be playing tonight. Nate Thompson is back in after sitting out a game with the flu. Mitch Fritz remains in the lineup and will fight Godsy.

so what was the point? Just seeing if anyone would take him?

Pretty much, although I think they have 30 days I believe where they can send him to Bridge without having to clear waivers again.

Who the heck would take him for a mil a year? What a major disappointment he has been. Last year, one game, boom, gone for the year and I couldn't wait until he got back. I thought he had grit and could put a few in the basket.

But he has been a monumental disappointment.

I believe this is just the start of a process to see who can be moved and who will be. First, but certainly not the last to test the waiver wire.

And the real start of the Scott Gordon era begins...

No surprise. Probably wasnt even given a second of consideration by any team.

Just keep him out of the lineup now. Last thing we need is a disgruntled player, who's been told we dont think your good enough here and we dont want you, which basically putting him on waivers says to him. He can shovel Joe Sakic's driveway for all I care, for as of now he's history. Time to look forward.

Monumental dissappointment??

I think you are being a little unfair. The guy tore his ACL last year and worked his butt off to get back into the lineup. They always say that a guy is a step behind in the first year back off an ACL injury and comes back stronger in the second year off the surgery.

I'm not saying he didnt deserve to be waived and I would rather a Thompson in the lineup than him but I just feel that due to injury, we have not gotten to see the real Jon Sim and that is unfair to all involved, from Snow, Sim down to the fans.

Well We had Pock in the lineup after being waved, I think if we need him then no harm in him playing but I agree that he should go to bridge or watch if we have healthy bodies.
