I am officially proclaiming that Jeff Tambelllini sucks.  He's not worth the roster spot.  How much longer do we wait for this 'sniper' to score.  he had a chance on a partial breakaway, but with his 'speed' a defenseman caught up to him.    He's invisible and with the exception of that shot has nothing to even show he played last night.  he's soft, 0 hits, 0 blocked shots.  He's worthless, 1 shot, never in a good position to shoot.

Now Tim Jackman gets called up and is visible every shift.  The guy came in with purpose and worked hard, played physical and was in the right position to net a goal.

He had a goal, 4 hits and 2 blocked shots.  I see Jackman as the next Dave Scatchard for this team and if we send him back to bridgeport before permanently sitting Tambellini I will be very upset with management and their ability to put the best team on the ice with the resources they have.

GARTH,
TRADE, WAIVE OR SIT JEFF TAMBELLINI ONCE AND FOR ALL.  ADMIT THIS PROJECT WAS A MISTAKE AND MOVE ON.

THE SPOT BELONGS TO TIM JACKMAN.

I wrote this a month ago and a month later I am steamed :angrier: at Garth Snow.

Yea I know Tambellini has a one-way...ooooooooooo....that scares me. That's too freakin bad. It's your job to put the best team on the ice and having Jackman get sent down and keeping this lead weight of a hockey player around the neck of the Islanders in Tambellini is a bad bad move.

:nono:

Garth, you really let me down on this one. Eat the damn Tambellini contract already and sit him either in the luxury box or waive him down to Bridgeport.

:angrier: :angrier: :angrier: :angrier:

Tell us how you really feel, Webby. I would be okay with giving him 17 more games IF:
1. He hits. Or uses his body for anything, even a screen.
2. He stops floating. He needs to be part of the flow, aid with defensive pressure, maybe go in deep on d once or twice.
3. He starts trying to do stuff on offense. Let someone steal the puck from him while he is trying to make a move. The hot potato routine is getting old. Send him to bed with his stick and a puck.
THEN, if he looks the same as he does now, put him on the wire. Maybe it will boost his career to get back to the Bridge!

Is this list to Webby or Santa? No offense to Webby intended, but a list that long will require some major work at the north pole by the elves. Let's face it, I'd be shocked if Tamby completes ONE of those items and it would be a Christmas miracle.

:santa: :santa: :santa: :santa: :santa:

Tamby just needs some time to develop into a potential HOF like some on this team
have already been appointed :selfhit:

IF HE HASNT DONE IT YET
WHY THINK IT WILL CHANGE?

I don't think it will change. I think he will be the best player on Wednesday Night at the local rink 5 years from now. But if I was his coach, or a respected older player, I would tell him these things.
I really think he is Papineau wearing a mask.

You've Just Been Served!
Slump frustrating for Isles' Tambellini
BY GREG LOGAN

Despite all their injuries, no one on the Islanders is hurting more than a 24-year-old forward who is the picture of health and fitness. Whatever is preventing Jeff Tambellini from finding the net in the NHL the way he did in the minor leagues is locked inside where no one can locate it, and the sight of such an earnest, dedicated young player fighting his demons has been painful to witness.

You look at the performance chart for Tambellini in the AHL, and the line trends steadily upward -- 25 goals and 56 points in 56 games for Manchester in 2005-06, 30 goals and 59 points in 50 games in 2006-07 in Bridgeport and 38 goals and 76 points in 57 games in Bridgeport last season. Then, you look at his performance the past two seasons with the Islanders -- one goal in 54 games -- and shake your head in wonder.

At the moment, Tambellini is working to end a streak of 42 NHL games without a goal spanning two seasons. How can this be?

"It is what it is," Tambellini said yesterday before skating effectively against Washington but ultimately winding up scoreless again. "I don't know what to tell you. I go day-by-day, and I just play each game as a new game. I can't worry too much about the past. It is what it is. I can't really dwell on it."

So far, Islanders coach Scott Gordon and general manager Garth Snow have stuck by Tambellini and tried to ride it out with him. He's still getting an average of 12:45 per game in ice time, although Gordon necessarily has dropped him to more of a fourth-line role. For now, Gordon said there's no clock ticking on how much longer he can go with Tambellini in the lineup, but you wonder.

"We all want him to score," Gordon said. "There's definitely a lack of confidence that probably has built up, which is natural. I'm sure he's frustrated. It's one of those things where -- at some point, he's got to find the answers within himself. We've had a couple conversations. At the end of the day, you've got to get some results. We can only talk so much."

Asked if he's sought help from anyone in particular, Tambellini shrugged and said he talks to the same people he's always talked to about his game. He's not trying to do anything different from his normal routine.

"Oh, if you start playing mind games with yourself, you're only hurting yourself," he said.

The epic nature of Tambellini's NHL streak without a goal suggests the possibility that he could join the ranks of minor-league scorers who couldn't carry their touch around the net to the next level. The king of all minor league shooting stars might be current Washington coach Bruce Boudreau, who scored at least a point a game and often much more in each of his 16 minor-league seasons (counting a stint in Germany during the 1984-85 season when he briefly played in Baltimore). He topped 30 goals 11 times, hitting a high of 50 in 1982-83 with St. Catharines of the AHL.

But Boudreau never could stick in the NHL, though he got several shots. His best NHL campaign was in 1977-78 with Toronto, when he went 11-18-29 in 40 games, one of two times he reached double digits in goals.

Boudreau is familiar with Tambellini's situation because he coached against him in the AHL. "I'm surprised because Jeff is as fast a skater as you're going to find," Boudreau said. "When he was in Bridgeport or Manchester, he tore it up. I think it's a matter of time. He's got the talent to score. I think, a lot of times, it's confidence when a scorer doesn't score. It's mostly confidence."

Asked if the depth of Tambellini's troubles almost seems shocking, Boudreau said, "No." Pointing to one of his own players with the Capitals, Boudreau noted that Tomas Fleischmann had 32 points in the AHL playoffs two years ago but struggled in the NHL until this season. "It took him almost two years to [produce in the NHL]," Boudreau said. "Sometimes, it just takes a little maturity. You stick with them, and you stick with the plan. Eventually, they get it, and once they start, they're really good at it."

As tough as it is to remain positive, that's the attitude Tambellini is trying to maintain. "The minute you don't," Tambellini said, "then, you're really in trouble."

Nice article. There really isn't much too it. He shys away from the net, and doesn't go in high traffic areas when there could be a consequence to pay. He is scared. You can see whenever he rushes the zone with the puck he skates to the outside when he could easily skate towards the middle towards the goalie with his speed.

One play in particular you all may remember was in Tampa when he rushed down the ice in a 2 on 1 with the puck. He was flying, but stayed to the outside and just shot the puck at the goalie from a bad angle. The goalie never got it and Hunter scored, but Tambellini could have just cut in towards the middle and taken a real good shot.
