i've had so much optimism for Tambs since 2007. i didn't like how nolan was treating this kid and i was hoping this season would be a stellar year for him. but let's face it, this kid's a dud. Send him to edmonton to dad. i don't care what we get for him, just get him off the island |

Everyone is so sure he will not clear waivers. I think we need to give more credit to the other teams in the league. Maybe the Pens should pick him up and put him with either Crosby or Malkin so that he can reach his potential. More likely he can help Bridgeport by doing his AHL thing. |

Fasty, I dont want to wait and waste another year on tambellini. NO, we dont have the luxury of time. The rebuild is on, and it's time to evaluate. We have plenty who can come in here and be tried and see what they can bring. Let's not waste too much time and effort on one guy when we have many that need evaluation at this level. On this conveyor belt of youth in bridgeport and in juniors it's time to toss the bad apple and let the next one move on. I'm not yelling to make a trade for some known star, just time to look at Comeau, Smith, Joensuu, Bentivoglio, or Iggulden. We have guys just itching for a chance, let's give it to them. Rebuild doesnt mean we dont look at the others and just concentrate on one overdue project. |

Since Tamby is on a one-way two year contract, I don't see him going anywhere. The organization has made a decision to give him a long look and I expect that's what he'll get. |

With all due respect (And there's a lot due to you!)... When rebuilding, if you want some other young guys to get a chance, you don't do it at the expense of another young player, you do it at the expense of an older player you know won't be around when this thing turns around or has no trade value. We may not want to wait, but the team does have time to give Tambellini a chance. The Isles need to have a big basket of young guys to draw from, keeping all those eggs in place without breaking any of them. Only a fraction of your young talent will pan out, so they must give all of those eggs as much of a chance to blossom as possible. The Isles really have to wait for the deadline to clear up more space on the roster, but John Sim, Doug Weight, Bill Guerin, Mike Comrie, these are the players who'll be moved, if possible, so the young guys you mentioned get a chance. Also, there's no doubt in my mind that Nate Thompson should not be on this roster. Blake Comeau should be up in his place. This is a COMPLETE an UTTER rebuild from the ground up. This will take a few years. The process could be moved along if the Isles get one of the first two picks in the draft and pick correctly, but pretty much 80% of this roster won't be around when this team turns it around. Fans need to stop looking at Wins/Losses with an eye to stop picking apart this team on a day-to-day basis, and be prepared to look at this team's progress in season-long chunks rather than short increments. You won't see any satisfying change when looking at this team minute by minute. |

fasty? How can you, on one hand, suggest that the Islanders have "time to give Tambellini a chance"? Then on the other, make a comment like
??? Tambellini has done zippo but guess what? I agree, give him a longer look (sorry Nick). Thompson?? Should not be on this roster? The guy works harder than 2 thirds of this team on each shift. This is why Bruins fans were sad to see him picked off waivers. There was NO room for him at center o their NHL team. I am a huge Comeau supporter but he plays left wing. Thompson is not part of the problem and for all we know, he may not be part of the solution either. Many of them aren't. I do know this. They claim both Guerin and Weight will be here for the entire season. That means look for Sillinger and Comrie to be shopped. We've read that Joensuu (one of my favorites) probably isn't ready for another year (needs to adapt to NA game). So lets continue to vent at Tambellini and everyone on a whole for playing watch the opposition in the 3rd period. One player cannot help this team, one change even 2 or three won't make us that much better. Instead, lets look at guys like Nielsen. Someone I berated since last year. He's slowly looking like he can play and deserves his NHL contract. Still has a long way to go. Campoli? Hunter? Park? Hilbert? MacDonald? Okposo? We have some guys who are playing well. That's the best we can hope for along with good lottery pick. That's where I see us. So in closing. Tambellini doesn't hurt us much by getting rid of him. But I believe he helps us much more by keeping him. Keeps the holding his line back as well as guarantee's a lower seed finish. That's a good thing eh?

Tambellini hasn't scored in how long? About 90 games. Jackman comes in and scores in his first game. Yes, Tambellini did get his hands dirty the other night, but give me a break! Jackman really fights and he's the closest thing to an enforcer that we have. I will go off the deep end if they send him down. Tambellini should be traded so we could get something out of him. He's had more than enough ice time so I don't want to hear it. Three years of taking up space is enough!!!!!! |

I don't see Thompon as a really a long term prospect, Comeau is, unless we're planning on having the Bruins' 5th line center on our team in 3 years. I could be wrong about that. He's a hard worker, but I question the talent. (Ted Nolan type player?). |

Trade him for what? With his point total, he is exposed as someone whose success does not transfer up to the big league. Do we need a fifth round pick? |

Talent rises to the top. If he was going to do anything, he would have shown something under Nolan, even in garbage time. |

This is a tough one. I've stated in earlier posts that he should be given the chance. Now, he has basically been given one and shown nothing. The leash is shorter now, at least in my opinion. But the truth is as puckhead states. One way means no way. He's gonna be here. And I would note that Nolan is gone, Snow is here and one of the major bones of contention in the demise of Nolan was his use (or lack thereof) of younger players like Tamby. And that is where Garth dug his heels in. I woould doubt he is willing to admit his mistake on Tamby as that also implicates him in the removal of Nolan. Again, this is a tough one. |

Fasty, I'm talking about one player here not the entire project. We have many pieces to assemble. He's shown nothing so far, so let's try someone else. You think he would've survived as a youngster on another team this long? He's not projected to be a penalty killer or a banger, we cant look for his contributions in other areas as they are non-existent. For this guy it's either generate some offense or move on to guy #2. |

And I think Nate Thompson has been a welcomed surprise. He plays on both sides of the puck which increases the ways he contributes. |

Aside from Comeau, who can you honestly make a claim is ready in Bridgeport to be given a shot up here? Joensuu might be towards the end of the season, but he has all of about 15 games of AHL experience. Trevor Smith? Maybe soon, but the guy was playing in the ECHL for much of last year, and still has a lot to do in the "A." Most of our '06 and '08 draft picks haven't even stepped onto an AHL sheet of ice, so they're not ready either. Bottom line is nobody in the minors has come even close to accomplishing what Tamby accomplished in Bridgeport. Many fans quickly brush that off, but it's the truth. The kid is getting a good solid chance this year, which he didn't get under the precious coach- that is something the GM of this team and even our clueless owner agrees with. Additionally, Gordon has shown that he will scratch the kid with no problem if he doesnt feel Jeff is giving the same effort as other players. I've been frustrated watching the guy flub passes and look out of step too, believe me, I've been watching the games too. In fact, at times I would love to strap on skates and level the guy just to knock some sense into him. But I'm a believer that Tamby can give more than he is and show more than he is playing now. |

On a much different note, I see this is going to be an interesting season. 5 of the top 6 threads on the board are "REMOVE Jeff Tambellini" "Cut Comrie" "Blake Comeau: This is Bullshit" "You Have to Be Kidding Me" and "F Bombs." Looks like a happy time to be an Islander fan, lol. |
