I will reiterate my stance on Jeff Tambellini. I do not think he will ever be anything more than a 20 goal scorer at best. And as of right now, it's not even like he's snake bitten going through a drought. This guy doesn't even get decent chances. Maybe he'll have one good chance every 3 or 4 games. He's also getting UNDESERVED power play time, and he's been horrible on the PP. So that's not even an issue. I agree with Webb on the notion that this is most likely a failed project. However, this is where I disagree. This team is going nowhere anyway. Blake Comeau is getting major minutes in Bridgeport. Let him earn his stripes even though everybody knows he's better than Tambellini. Tambellini earned his time here by being a great AHL player. It's do or die time for him because of his AHL service time and his age. Tambellini has earned himself at least 60 games at this level to prove he doesn't belong. If he has 1 or 2 goals after 60 games, then hopefully this organization has the balls to stand up and say "It's not working". And Webb, we both heard Mike Bossy talk candidly about Jeff Tambellini. They are well aware that this is a make or break year for him. I think they're just trying to give him the fairest shot. Now, if this team was a Cup contender or a playoff contender it would definitely be a different story. But we're not going anywhere anyway, so let the kid try to find himself. |

We're not another team, we're the worst team in the league. We need to fully and completely exhaust our young prospects to see if they will one day help this team. We cannot afford to cut lose players who may have the potential to thrive in the NHL given time. Do I like Tambellini? Do I think he'll succeed? Not necessarily, but they lose NOTHING by letting him play the full season and then exploring their options. |

I have to agree. I mean we know what Doug Weight is and such, would I go as far as make a choice between Weight or Tambs? No, but I mean we are going to be in the bottom three, some-times it takes guys "years". He did prove it down there (all he can do). Someone like Comrie now, that is different, he is useless, but Snow signed after that fing year, after he signed a one year deal to "prove he was a first line center". WEAK. |

Absolutely Fasty. Keep putting Tambs out there. They can't constantly pull the plug on prospects if things don't work out right away. It takes time and patience. But when it comes to truly evaluating and developing prospects and younger players I have absolutely zero confidence in this organization. How many younger guys have they home grown and developed the last decade? Not a helluva lot. |

Put the Cup Back in Our Lobby Where It Belongs

If we don't put Jeff Tambellini on the ice, we'd just put another retread from Providence out there. Hmm, a former 1st round pick who has succeeded at the AHL level or another retread? Hmm . . . Actually, that's an easy question, it's Tambs. Now, I share Webby's skepticism regarding the Tambellini project but we gotta play with the hand we're dealt, and like it or not, until we develop more draft picks, Tambs is one of the more talented jokers in the deck. Let him play out the season and the results will speak for themselves. |

SAD PART IS IF HE WASNT A FORMER FAMILY MEMBER AND A GOAL SCORER IN THE AHL NOBODY WOULD CARE ABOUT HIM HE'D BE A PIECE OF A COLLECTIVE BAG OF GARBAGE BUT SINCE HE SHOWED HE CAN SCORE IN THE AHL AND DOES ABSOLUTELY NOTHING IN THE NHL THATS WHATS GIVING HIM TIME AND AN UPSIDE TO PRAY FOR BUT FOR ME HE'S JUST ANOTHER "NEVER WAS" IN ISLANDER HISTORY BUT I KNOW IF HE'S HERE OR NOT HERE WE ARE STILL IN FOR A WORLD OF HURT FOR THE NEXT FEW YEARS OR DECADES OR CENTURIES WHATEVER JUST KEEP THE BOOZE FLOWING AND KEEP US ALL "NUMB" |

Who are we gonna replace Tambellini with anyway? We're the worst team in the NHL for gods sake...It's not like this team has dreams of Stanley Cup glory right now. But if this team is going to be bad, is going to stink up the joint...They had better draft a sure thing. not some project based of a 4th round pick.... |

Bill, you go to some 'port games. You tell us. How about giving Joensuu a chance? Big guy. We gave Fritz a try, we gave a 19 year old a try yesterday. I'm sure there are some on that roster who would make the best of a chance to play in the NHL. None may pan out, maybe one, but we wont know until we look. It's not going to be any less productive than what's in that spot now. And may prove more motivating to Tamby then benching him for two games. |

I'm a huge Joensuu fan but let's ask ourselves this. Bridgeport is having some success. Wouldn't be better to ride out the storm here with what we have than taint or stump a players confidence by bringing them up into this mess?

Webby doesn't Jeff have a one way contract? We try sending him down to Bridgeport he'll wind up somewhere else. Players in Bridgeport that I'd like to see get some playing time on Long Island? 1. Rob Hennigar- I don't know what it is, but I am so sold on this guys game. 2. Sean Bentivoglio- I think if he got a chance he could be another Jeff Tambellini or maybe not. 3. Jesse Joensuu- This is his last season in Bridgeport. Make the best of it Tigers! I don't think Blake Comeau has earned a return ticket to Long Island. His game in Bridgeport is proof positive. He got a big head and Scott Gordon made him pay for it... |

We dont have to send him down thru waivers. There's a comfortable chair right next to Garth in the luxury box. If it turns out he's equal or better than whatever else we have he goes back in. If we find someone to fill that spot who provides an all around game and can find the back of the net on occasion then we can worry if someone would claim him. |

Webby, I understand your frustration with this kid. I think we are all disappointed that he doesn't seem to have the mettle to go to the slot for good shots and would prefer to be a perimeter floater. However, I don't think sitting him is the answer. Not after fewer than 20 games. Especially to bring up Jonsseau or some of the other kids. From what I've read (which isn't much), Jesse still needs to adapt to the smaller ice and I'm not sure the NHL is the proper place to do that. I'm all for giving Tamby until the New Year or the trade deadline to show something or destroy his career. The org is giving him the playing time he needs. The excuses are over. The question is, will he keep hanging himself with the rope he's been provided or will he use it to pull himself out of this pit of terrible play. I don't think 15 games this year and several short stints is enough to make a final decision. I know you think this is all we are going to get from him (and I tend to agree with you there- I don't think Tamby will ever fulfill this supposed "upside"), but he needs more than 15 games this year a few stints last year to show it. I just think what will happen is the time will bear you out to be correct, but he does need the time and so does this organization to be able to make a correct assessment and decision. |

I guess I'll just leave my opinions out there as I've stated them pretty clear. I'm one for test, try, decide and keep or move on. Constantly repeating the same procedure with fail results in hope the results will change. You know what this describes?....Insanity. I'll just keep the JT watch going just in case it changes. |

WTF...this team is going nowhere this year. Everyone knows it, but some posters want to move a young guy off the NHL roster for what...? The next scrub with a lesser minor league resume than Tambs? How about the organization act like most others not in the metro area and give patience and time to a young guy. Its not like he is keeping us out of the playoffs!!! This attitude kills me.
