Isles should trade for Raitis Ivanans one of the Kings goon scrubs straight up for Tambs. 157 GP 16 PTS 302 PIM He's only 29 but we would still be getting a savvy veteran goon scrub. LETS DO THIS

Joensuu may be a big time player for us down the line but after hearing reports from scouts and from our own coaching staff he is definitely not NHL ready. Listen, we are the worst team in the NHL. I have no problem with guys developing here. But a guy like Joensuu is TOO raw and should have a season or two in the "A" to adjust to the North American style. Maybe he makes a dent in the lineup next season, but I'd be shocked to see him on the Island this year. Besides, as was mentioned Bridgeport is playing well. Let him be a top 6 guy on that team instead of a bottom 6 guy on this team. |

Snowy, you're preaching to the choir. In regrads to Joensuu (and I'm glad to see more people spelling his name correctly) All I said in that post was that I'm a huge fan of that kid. Not that he should be given a spot or chance NOW. I totally agree that Tambellini should be given a longer look despite my posts against him. That's frustration and venting. But I am NOT optimistic about him from what I've seen. Unlike Nielsen, who still has a LONG way to go with fundamentals. Nielsen seems fearless on many shifts. Tambellini is fighting himself and unlike Hilbert, Thompson, Bergenheim or Comeau who've come in over the last few years and while the offense wasn't there, they did the little things away from the puck that warranted an NHL spot or LONGER look. The losing environment, lack of sellouts at home and pressure for Tambellini is enormous. But he WAS that AHL guy who tore it up right? So frustration with fans who saw alot of this coming last year and some even the year before has over spilled and made him the whipping boy. This is why I cannot fault Nick or anyone else for wanting "Tamby" off team. I think deep down inside we ALL want him, heck anyone to come through and be that one shining light to this season. The problem with us fans is this. Some of us just don't like seeing our worst fears in print from fellow fans because deep down inside it stings and we've been getting stung for 15 years. |

The Tambellini situation is the definition of the multi million dollar question for scouting/management. If the AHL is the highest level farm system we have access to, what else besides success in the AHL should be looked at as predictive factors for success in the NHL. For the record, I'm not giving up on JT, although disappointed so far. Besides continuing to work on fundamentals / NHL toughness, his issues seem to be more in the area above the jersey. He needs to establish in his mind that he's a productive NHL player (coaching, sports psychology, time in uniform), then the scoring will come. Also - not reading too much in the media or worse, message boards.... (Resisting all urges to repost the Stuart Smalley self help book) |

Tambellini stay till the trade dead line. He goes no where till then. The Isles will not waive him and get nothing in return. I think they will try to move him for something or part of a package deal possibly involving Comrie. So get used to him till March. Until then all this talk is cheap and premature. Sal |

There is more to assessing a player than just by his statistics. When I went to Bridgeport last year I was judging guys based on their all around game. It's sad to say this, but statistics don't really mean anything in the AHL. You really have to watch the players closely while they're in the "A" to judge whether they're ready for the NHL. |

If we are in a rebuild mode, then play the young kids on the PP and sit Guerin and Weight. I'm sick of watching sharp angle shots on 5 on 3s. It makes you want to puke. |

I like this powerplay BETTER than last years crop and much better than what we had with Yashin up front and everyone passing around the perimeter. There's more movement, just not results because lack of second, third efforts. The movement is there. In recent years passed, we had guys wind puck around the boards with their backs towards the net, always getting pressured. Now we're actually setting up. The results will come when we have more talent. In terms of strategy, I like this current powerplay because of the movement.
