We'll get rid of him for something cheap, then he'll turn in to a superstar.

Yeah the same way Mattias Weinhandl became one after we got rid of him.

Just Sayin’

Let’s say the Islanders wanted to take another shot at restoring the confidence of Jeff Tambellini by sending him to Bridgeport for a couple of weeks of AHL goal scoring. Tambellini, who has 0 goals and 2 assists in 20 games this season - 1 goal in his last 50 games as an Islander - would have to clear waivers.

Tambellini - 11 minutes, minus-1 tonight - is in the first year of a two-year deal that pays him $550,000 this year and $625,000 next. That’s not big dough compared to healthy scratch Petr Prucha’s $1.6 mill this year, but Tambellini’s deal is one-way and most NHL teams have trouble enough keeping it to a 23-man roster.

Guess what I’m trying to say is, if Gordon and Garth Snow don’t want to send Tambellini for an AHL tune-up because they’re happy with the rest of his game, wonderful. But I wouldn’t lose sleep worrying about losing Jeff to another team on waivers. And if Tambellini was picked up by another franchise and given a fresh start, that wouldn’t be such a bad thing either.

Man, remember how he used to get 1st line minutes?

Yuck.

Bailey has more points than Tambellini in half the games.

O'Byrne has more goals for the Islanders than Tambellini.

I wouldn't mind is lack of scoring if he actually did other things for the team, and I'm not talking about serving too many men bench minors.

This year anyway.
In total, 4 down, 496 to go for the sniper. Trottier is quaking in his boots, Bossy will start to get worried if Tamby ever hits double digits. He is scoring at a faster rate than Ken Morrow ever did right now.

The really sad thing about Tambellini is that the puck is never near him. You now how with some players the puck seems to follow them or always wind up on their stick. You never see Tambellini carry the puck, or have it in the corner. Is it just positioning or he does not want to go into the traffic areas to get the puck? It could be a confidence issue, too. He just needs "bleeder, blooper or dying quail" to get him going. Sorry about the baseball analogy.

Except in the playoffs, where Morrow turned it up.
Do you think they know he stinks yet?

This thred is somewhat like what I just posted in another.
The Islanders are amazing. They will somehow keep winning games and play themselves out of a top pick. We will end up somewhere near 8 or 9. This pick won't make it and that leads me to my next rant. What's the problem in this organization? Either we are horrible at analyzing talent or we are horrible at developing them. Probably a lot of both. It drives me nuts seeing our guys only as 3rd or 4th liners and the Rangers, Devils, and Wings constantly developing studs.

What stud have the Rangers developed through their system in the past decade that was an early round pick?

except Hilbert got a ton of chances and just didn't finish. Tamby can't even get himself into position for scoring chances.

It's like he's enjoying a public skating session at Newbridge Rink

Plus Hilbert always contributes on the D side of things, especially the PK, so his contributions, even when he's not scoring, is big to the team.

I dont think I even heard Tambellini's name mentioned last night.

I'm saying that our picks are usually high and don't make it and the Rangers/Devils have low picks and they seem to always have good young talent... that can score.
