You missed my wish for defensive walls. At least they won't go down to injury. |

Hopefully they won't. No offense, but I don't want Rick coming in and covering up all the holes in our defense and keeping us in games we have no business staying in so we can climb from missing the playoffs by 25 points to missing it by 10 points. Zep's feelings and emoticons aside, DP is THE REASON we made the playoffs in 07 and the reason we were in the top 8 come the ASG last year. DP was able to carry this team from Oct-Feb last year whereas Joey Mac was only able to do it for Nov. And that isn't taking a crack at Mac...I like him and think he's a strong backup. I hope Rick doesn't come back until mid Jan. I don't want his strong play taking away our shot at the first or second pick overall. Despite the obvious comments that are about to rain down from Zep, you know that is a distinct possibility. DP has covered up the putressant play of our defense for 3 years. Why have it take away what can be strong blocks in the rebuild come the draft. |

That's an excellent point, I4C. But, I wouldn't mind 5 to 7 more wins from this club. I don't think that will wreck us for drafting high. I'm going to anticipate Zep's next comment: Joey Mac 15 more years!

LOL...that's what I was predicting from zep as well. No offense meant Zep. My hope was that these guys in the games they lose would stay competitive, play hard, improve as the year goes by and hopefully the losses are 1 goal games. That is what I saw alot of under ARbour in 74 (not saying Flash is Radar...I'm just saying there was visible improvement) and we still earned a top pick that year. |

Bring back...PRIDE OF THE ISLAND
|
yes, I do agree...ricky should just sit out the season...there really is no need for him to come back now. If he wants to play, let him get conditioned at BP.. though, if they do that..the Islanders will need a new backup to backup macD..danis is awful. |

He'll play this year for sure. I just hope they don't play him at a 75 game pace as they've done for the past 2 seasons or as they've done with MacD this year. And yes, Danis is terrible. The Score-o board used to get in the way of shots more than he does. |

When do you throw DP into the fire? When our defense stops letting up 40 shots a game. You want him to return from rehab right into an environment like that? Up, down, left, right, bang, bang, bang. I mean it wont be a tune up type thing like Brodeur would get against weaker club with the Devs. Even the Atlanta's of the league have looked good against us lately. |

When he's 100%...not 90%. A 90% DP does nothing for us or him this season. When he's 100% give him a start, then give Joey Mac the next. Alternate it like that until he's ready to go two in a row. Then go 2 and 1. See how that's going for a while and how he's responding physically and then go 3 to 1...and max it out there. There is no reason to burn out your franchise player facing 35-40 shots a night on a team competing for the top pick in the draft...especially when our backup has shown he can handle himself competently and the guys in front of him have confidence. |

He better be 100% when he starts. This team gives up alot of odd man rushes, and the last thing we need is our recuperating goalie to have to go post to post making saves when he first gets back. |
