Exactly. From what I've read, Weight has a lot of trade value. We may be able to bring a winger back our way.

Rick DiPietro will retire and become the coach.
Mariusz Czerkawski will come back and join Mike Bossy in the effort to embark on new "Business Club" partnerships.
Only to get fired when ridiculing Charles Wang, suggesting the SAP feature should allow fans to hear Islander Saturday night games in Polish.
The Ice Girls will have kissing booths at all Islander home games before and after games,
all proceeds go to getting the "ICE BREAKERS" off the island.
There you have it. Just as believable as anything else we read about our team.
You never know. We all, myself especially, have earned frequent flier miles from
jumping to so many conclusions.

It wasn't even 6 months ago when Snow and Nolan were on stage at a team function and stated that their relationship was fine - they get along, etc. :blah: :blah: :blah:

Then the ax fell and the reasoning was - "philosophical differences". To me this "show of support" means nothing. You can't go out a lie and then have people trust you again. Sorry, Garth.

Good for Snow to stick by his plan and his coach. To do otherwise would send a terrible, confusing message about the trajectory of this team and the character of its general manager. Yes, a vote of confidence is often fragile in the NY media market. However, I'm inclined to believe Snow, since this is his plan and his man. This is not another shotgun marriage of coach and GM.

Now with some more comments on the record, there are plenty of voices out there calling for us to take a different direction. For what? A slightly better bad team? Another spanking in the playoffs? Listen, the best way for us to continue wallowing in mediocrity is to change our plan every three to six months.

I'm sorry Witt took his comments public. Yes, he was just answering questions truthfully. But nowhere is it written that Witt has to address those questions so directly. I suspect we're hearing the frustration of a veteran who's not having a lot of fun at the office right now. If it were someone other than Witt, I'd say he's looking for a change of venue as well, but I take my avatar's word that he's just tired and frustrated of losing.

Unfortunately for him, losing has to be part of the plan for awhile.

If you think this is madness, spend some time with Victor Hedman and John Tavares on Youtube. These guys are world-class talents the likes of which we haven't seen since in sixteen years---not since Lafontaine. If our luck holds, one of them will grace the banner at the top of this website in a year or two. These guys will wreak some serious $%^#! damage on the rest of league, like we used to do.

Just curious.

If Snow fully supports Scott Gordon.
(the following is a great point made by Lexhair on another board and something I've been critical of Snow on)

Why didn't Garth allow Gordon to pick his own assistant coaches?

Scott Gordon had one assistant in Providence who was named to replace him as coach in Rob Murray and wanted him bring him here. I have read nothing where Garth Snow did not allow him to pick an assistant of his own.

http://www.boston.com/sports/hockey/bruins...t_to_his_words/

In September, when the Islanders parted ways with assistant coach Gerard Gallant, Gordon hoped to fish former right-hand man Rob Murray out of Providence to join him on the New York bench. But Murray, by then the top man in Providence, was not released by the Bruins. Despite not being able to be united with Murray, Gordon said he had nothing but good feelings about the Bruins and his time with the organization.

Don't forget Gordon was hired in mid August at a time all coaching changes are usually over.
*******************************************
For all the struggles Doug Weight is in Gordon's corner, Guerin before the losing streak said the same things.

"[Gordon is] very easy to know and very easy to like," said Weight, who can count Peter Laviolette, another ex-Providence coach, among his former bosses. "That said, he's a guy that has a tremendous amount of confidence in what he believes in. He believes in accountability, which I think is what makes a team run. He's put a lot of responsibility on the veterans on this team to buy into that and buy into his system. He's been honest. He's been forthright. He's been very good to us."

http://www.patriotledger.com/sports/x15850...on-s-homecoming

“He’s very passionate and he’s very detail oriented, but that’s what you need now,” said Guerin. “You need that in the game these days. The better coaches are the better-prepared coaches, and he’s definitely prepared for every practice, every game. He demands a lot out of us, and that’s what you want. You want a guy to push you.”
*****************************************
I want to believe Snow and what he said so well but I believed him last April when he said he had no problems with Ted Nolan and communicated daily, he sat on a stage and lied to the fans.

I think he is now all-in on Gordon and both are tied together and that's the way it should be whether his plans work or not long-term. He could have given a luke-warm token vote of confidence of Gordon that came off like let's see but this was a long-term endorsement now and in the future regardless of record.

I absoultely believe if he knocked on Wang or Dey's door and said I have another coach for you to pay not to work here he would be the one out of a job before Gordon.

One thing for sure, it's Gordon's team behind the bench and it's going to stay that way under this gm.

Chabot and Lacroix were already retained before Gordon was announced.

How exactly was Gordon given any chance to name ANY of his coaches?

This is a mish mosh of nonsense.

How do you know Gordon was not allowed to pick anyone?

Gallant was already retained too, did not stop him from being reassigned.

All we know is Gordon wanted Murray and the Bruins did not allow it because he was already named the new Providence coach.

I don't, what I DO know is when they announced Nolan's release, they said, excuse GARTH SNOW himself said, both Chabot and Lacroix would return.

How the F could ANY coach come in and feel as if he has complete control?

My argument and frustration isn't with you. It's with Garth. We are a mickey mouse org.

No doubt about that.

No frustration or argument with you either Steve, we just do not agree on this one.

Actually the release at the time said the assistants are expected to return.

Let's remember this was all announced the same day the Islanders opened mini-camp in July with these people working.

It was not handled well by Snow or Nolan, both lied about their ability to work together several times. We can speculate a lot about who did what when but at some point Snow had enough, Nolan had enough or Wang finally decided to endorse the general managers actions and let him pick his own coach and pay Nolan 600k to go home.

In Chicago the drama dragged on all summer with Savard fired after four games because of his contract, the gm Tallon is essentially a lame duck with Quenneville taking a job as a scout then being named head coach.

My guess is we will not know and because Gordon was such a late hire he may not get his assistants until next summer.

http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Hockey/NHL/LosAn...6349781-cp.html

Terry Murray was the other late hire in Los Angeles, only new coach brought in was former King Mark Hardy with all the others promoted from within for the new coach.

Murray had his staff promoted from within for him and this is someone with decades experience and a lot of hockey ties.

Terry Murray have any ties to Mark Hardy who was an assistant with Chicago?
