i saw a story somewhere saying a player has to miss 30 straight games in order for insurance payments to kick in if that players contract is insured...

I THINK ITS COMICAL THAT WE EVEN NEED TO KNOW HOW HE WOULD GET PAID
W.G.A.S

I REMEMBER THE GOOD OLD DAYS WERE ALL THE FANS CARED ABOUT WAS DID THEY WIN OR LOSE ?

BUT THEN AGAIN WE THOUGHT THIS ORGINAZATION KNEW WTF IT WAS DOING

I'll premise this by saying it is more from frustration than anything else.

If this guy can't stay healthy, and based on the past he should have had a chauffer driven ambulance clause in his contract, he will go down as one of the biggest busts in pro sports history.

Healthy? For crying out loud he has played 4 games in the past 9 months or something. Sorry, but their comes a time when you have to face reality. And the reality is that this guy may NEVER be able to play.

Remember Carl Pavano for the Yankees? Never able to get healthy. Ever. And still collected millions of dollars. Hurt the team by not only not playing, but by absorbing money that could have been spent elsewhere. I know, they're the Yankees and money isn't a factor, but the point is the same.

And with us, money IS a factor. Ever wonder if that 15 year albatross of a contract hasn't affected our ability to acquire FA's? I'm sure it has.

If he were playing, different story.

I am losing my patience with him. Hell, even when he played he had to be reigned in from playing the puck too much, being caught out of his net and now this.

Hey Rick, put up or shut up.

Welcome Rick DiPietro, the Carl Pavano of the New York Islanders.

it's 15 years but to be honest his yearly salary is not hurting us, in fact we need to pay him that much to reach the cap bottom. let the guy heal, you all want them to tank it anyway so why stress over the Rick's money? we have much bigger issues than this. he has barely played this season so what difference does it make if he playes once a month? the team in general is one of the biggest busts in history from the penthouse to buried miles bellow the cellar :bag:

Groin, recurring hip problem? :dontknow: Only the Isles know. What they tell us could/most likely be misinformation.

Rick DiPietro is a JOKE.
yes a joke.

WHY couldn't he play a few games, periods at Bridgeport?
Then WAIT and see how he heals?

Groin strain?
yes an acceptable excuse/reason for being out under these conditions
but ask yourselves this...
was this the FIRST friggin time the bastid tried to come back early?

yeah, I know, those of us who are freely expressing our frustration with him
are just jumping to conclusions.

What's the old saying?

Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me.

But wait, there's more...fool us 3 or more times,
go **** yourself.

THAT'S how I feel.

Shut his ass down. Send him to Bridgeport, even for 1 period. Prove to us that
you want to come back and be the best instead of using your WILL.

WILL and spirit can get you so far.

Snow said at the trade deadline last year DP, Okposo and the first round pick were the only assets other GMs were interested in. It looks like now he should have listened to the DP offers seriously instead of discarding them.

let the conspiracy begin: :punk:

DP not hurt at all. Infact, he's beyond healed. DP knows (as much as Snow, Gordon, us) that we NEED Tavares and will do whatever it takes to secure a top pick. DP is still on his vacation.

 Tavares

yes, he will only play spot games to fulfill a portion of his salary cap so when we trade away veterans for picks we don't have cap floor issues.

hey, and Nick, as much as I am venting, I don't know if I want him traded.
I just want him to, heck, I just don't know anymore.

:dontknow:

Never felt this way over any Islander since 1972.

This guy is the ultimate enigma.

Of course it's easy looking back. But the good GMs see this stuff coming. ;)

Just shut this guy down for the year and be done with it. He'll probably bitch and whine, but who cares.

If only time will tell, Queenie, we have a long wait ahead of us. I'll bet his contract is guaranteed, so maybe if we give him 5 years off at full pay he will actually play back to back games for us.

Sorry, but I am simply disgusted with this entire organization right now.

imagine that....that would be really funny if the Islanders messed around with the league, by sitting ricky and trying to tank just to land tavares or hedman.

would actually be kind of satisfying in a way...bit of revenge.
