So instead of blowing 3rd period leads we now like to try and make a comeback int he 3rd? Why can't they play like that most of the game? Maybe tomorrow we'll shock the hockey world and hand the Sharks their first home regulation lose...... |

Really nice touch that they paused the game to acknowledge the milestone! Congrats, Dougie! |

How disappointing. I know the Coyottes have alot of young talent on that team and are a better team than us, but good grief, we didn't even put up a fight after that first period. NOBODY on the Isles had a good game. DP let up a few goals he didnt have a chance on but he gave up a big softie to Doan. Our defense looked like the bad news bears out there. Meyers was particularly inept in front of our own zone, screening on one, taking out STreit on another, taking no one in particular on a third. The only forward line that showed up was the Comrie-KO, Blake line and they only put out in the first period. A very poor outing teamwise considering we have to throw down with SJ tomorrow. Another outing like that and it will be like going up against the Luftwaffen with a BB gun. |

You shouldn't be upset at him. He's helping us get closer to landing John Tavares. ![]() Some people here need a reality check. The team sucks. Plain and simple. One guy won't solve this mess. This team isn't making the playoffs. They wouldn't make the playoffs if Marty Brodeur was in the net. So why get yourself all steamed over these games when the inevitable will happen -- another year out of the playoffs. Watch the World Juniors and dream how Tavares will look on a line with Bailey and Kyle O. That's a pretty darn good looking first line for us in the future. ![]() |

In spite of the loss last night, I have found myself actually impressed with some of the play the Islanders have had in the offensive zone. Over the last few games I've seen some really creative and, dare I say, exciting hockey that led to a number of scoring chances. Especially with the Comrie, Comeau, Okposo line. Our defense is crying out for Hedman. |

No, you're not only one who doesn't care Cupz. I don't give a crap either about Weight's milestone. All I care about is dealing him at the deadline for something we can show for in the future. |

I'm with Smitty on this one. I thought even though we lost there is some hope on the horizon. The play of Comeau and Okposo in the first period was terrific and should've been rewarded on the scoresheet. Josh Bailey getting his first. I doubt very much that his second will take that long. I bet it happens again in the next game or two. And come on, you cant feel good for Doug Weight. He's a good guy, an american born player and just reached 1000 points. Sure he only has 20 something of those as an Islander, I guess it would've meant more if 900 of those points came in our uniform, but still this is much much bigger than 1000 games. And the comeback did add for a little excitement. What a beauty of a one-timer for Park on that last goal. What sucks is waiting until 10:30 for the game tonight. 9:00 was hard enough to stay awake for. I think I may have to watch most of tonights game tomorrow morning. So, if I'm not mistaken, wasnt last night exactly what we want? A sign of hope from our youth AND no improvement in the standings towards the draft? I dont know why there are complaints

Webb, I think you meant you can't NOT feel good for Weight. Good for him. I wasn't able to watch many of the games live early in the season (did the DVR FF thing) but I have been very happy with SOME of the things I have seen recently. For the first time, in a LONG time, I really enjoy watching the speed, passing and flair in the offensive zone. Trevor Smith has had a nice few games, Bergie looks good (if not a bit overeager at times) and, this will get me killed, but I actually like some of what I see in Tamby (keep the tomatoes below the neckline please....but it is my opinion so - lol). Comrie, Kyle and Comeau are just a pleasure to watch. We fight hard and third periods have been tough (surprise, we are a young team) but we never (rarely?) quit and have fought back admirably in recent weeks. If we continue down this path, I'm thinking Hedman may be our guy. If not, were we to land a d-man or two on the FA market, well, this rebuilding process might be less time-consuming than I thought. |

nothing but a 1st round pick (Okposo or Bailey) or DP would fetch a 1st round pick from either of those teams. I dont want to part with Okposo or Bailey.

Realistically, we are not going to be able to draft Tavares AND Hedman. I think is that the best case scenario is that we either trade for another first rounder at the deadline, or trade up using players/our second round draft picks and get another, maybe top 20 pick? Pick Tavares, and try to find a big defenseman with the second pick. I can dream, can't I? :ph43r: |

Obviously, there is no way we, or any team, will end up with both of these guys. I do think we can end up with 2 first round picks, though that depends on what Snow does at the deadline and draft. I can see a team towards the middle or end of the first round swapping their first round pick for our true second round pick and a little something else. Not sure that this draft makes a move like that worthwhile (lack of depth is the rumor about this year's crop of kids), but if there is a player out there who hasn't been picked yet some point into the first round, and Snow & Co. really want him, it might make sense to jump up and snag him. Especially if you look at a team already loaded with youth, like Chicago, who can afford to drop down a dozen or so slots (or fewer) and pick up extra picks in return. But I'm jumping ahead about 6 months now, aren't I? ![]() EDIT: And just for fun: http://www.mynhldraft.com/NHL-Mock-Draft/ http://www.nhldraftsite.com/ |

The comeback was pretty exciting. I like that the Isles are coming back in the third, rather than blowing it. Next up... a complete game without the need for a comeback? I definitely don't want to see Weight dealt unless we get a first rounder. He's a good player, he's had a resurgence, and he believes in the rebuild. That's not common to find for the Islanders. |
