i would eat crow and love every bit of it going to down if Garth signed IK!!..Theses offers IK has been rumored to have turned down are a lot less than the 10 year 100 million rumor, maybe the isles go have way between what Ik has been turning down and that 100 million deal and get it done...doubt it but, it ain't over till he signs ...somewhere |

Brooks tweeted this morning that the Devils found a way to get him his $100 M....I want the salary cap police to look into that, unless its a 20 year contract at 5 mil a year, i can't see how they can afford it. |

You can go over the cap by 10% as long as you reduce payroll prior to season. So they could sign him and then work deals to reduce payroll. |

Man I wouldn't want to be a Devil fan. Sure, you get Kovy, but have to trade some of your core on top having a declining goalie. Maybe Lou will help us out with some trades after stealing Volchenkov from us. |

I wonder what Parise will think of this deal? And I'll say it -- Parise is the better player/overall. He plays both ends of the ice and hits. |

In Garth I Trust
|
I'm guessing that if this rumored deal is true, the idea of a front loaded 17 year deal is he's going to get 90% of the 100 mill in the first 10 years and then if he retires, since the deal was signed before he was 35 his number will come off the cap. Additionally, his cap hit will be less since it is a 17 year deal. He'll likely make 1 mill per in the last 7 years of the contract with incentives. Does anyone actually believe he's going to play until he's 44? |

Kovalchuk is holding a 1 hour press conference tomorrow on NHL Network and he will tell Pierre McGuire live, where he's decided to sign a contract. In other news, Charles Wang was spotted at a super market trying to straighten out a crushed can so the recycling machine can read the bar code. every penny counts. |

From a cap perspective 17yr or 7yr deal whatever the avg is, is the cap hit. So unless Ilya is willing to take less money then 100mil, not sure why he would sign a 17yr deal. |

I'll tell you what, no matter where Kovalchuk signs (if it's NHL), he's going to get booed in many arenas after this money hungry saga. All about money, less about winning even though they want you to believe the opposite. Oh well, at least this is better than reading how "Foppa" might be gearing up for another return. |
