Can someone please tell Kovalchuck that? Or, better yet, give him reason to say it? |

Brooksie was right. The man who I emailed a few times the last few years when his articles pissed me off. The man who I eventually found out loves NY hockey, the rivalry and the passion fans have. The man who uses sarcasm to chide the Rangers and Isles ineptitude no longer gets on my nerves. People read into things and often derive what they want to as their bias feelings get in the way. He called this from the start and I did too, so did Isles_Goal and a few others. That's all I choose to say in this thread. Good night.

I feel really pissed off by all this; we're a freaking joke which our GM and owner like to toy with our emotions. |

No, he wasn't. There was no offer extended, period ... not the rumored 10 years for $100 million Brooks himself quoted. In fact, I'd say that Snow did what a lot of people here would have preferred him to do ... look into the situation, make noises about a shorter-term offer at a high salary, and then bow out when that wasn't going to be the case. He inquired about the parameters of a deal that many people here would have thought was a good idea. It's ridiculous to hold Snow accountable for the blabbering of several reporters and bloggers, including Botta. Simply ridiculous. For some people, their hopes outran their common sense. That's understandable, and I don't see what good it does to say that you were right and they were wrong ... especially when Brooks was wrong, period. His tweets were more to the point. |

Deliberately screwing around with someone else's quote so you can go off on a rant is simply reprehensible. For the record, here's the complete sentence: "It's ridiculous to hold Snow accountable for the blabbering of several reporters and bloggers, including Botta." 4CUPZ, I hold you responsible for distorting the sentence to go off on a CAPS ONLY rant. Grow up. I had expected more of you. Hold Snow accountable for lots of other things, but as for the idiocy of the rumor mill this last weekend, I think many people are more ticked off at themselves for being duped ... in part by their own wishes and hopes. That appears to include you. If you're angry at Wang and Snow, take it out on them. Not me. |

FIRST OFF WHY THINK IT WAS AIMED AT YOU? IT WASNT WHY SHOULDNT SNOW BE HELD RESPONSIBLE IN SOME FORM FOR THE BLABBERING? HE FEEDS HIS SHILLS THE INFO HE SAW WHAT WAS SNOWBALLING (NO PUN INTENDED) BE IT RIGHT OR WRONG HE SAID MORE BY SAYING NOTHING THAN JUST SAYING "WE'RE INTERESTED BUT NO OFFER HAS BEEN MADE AT THIS TIME" BUT WE DONT KNOW WHAT GAMES GM'S AND AGENTS PLAY ONE THING IF A RUMOR STARTED THAT THE TEAM WAS FOLDING AND PROOF THAT WAS GIVEN SEEMED REAL YOU KNOW A RELEASE WOULD COME FLYING OUT OF CAMP DENYING IT INSTEAD OF JUST BEING MUTE ABOUT IT AND COME ON "A CAPS ON RANT" do you ever see this? EVER ALSO FOR FEELING DUPED...I THINK EMBARRASSED IS A BETTER WORD I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER

GIVE ME A BREAK!!!! REREAD Brooks' entry. Are you kidding me??? He WAS right. That article did nothing more than QUESTION the validity of that rumor quoting the "100m for 10 years". As for the rest of your rant, I agree. There is plenty of blame to go around.

Wait, wait, wait! Did you just say "Brooksie"??? Good lord, what is the world coming to? Do I sense a man-crush? Just kidding, Steve. I can see you have a new found respect for Brooks. I did admire how he stood up to the bullying of Tortorella in the post-game bitch-fest they had with each other. Not sure I ever heard a writer get a hockey-type nickname, but live and learn. Stranger? Botter, Bottsy? Oh, where will it all end?

Steve, the source of the ten years for $100m was not Garth Snow. It was a certain correspondent. Indeed, Snow soon shot that down. Here's the problem: in a time where stories are updated every minute, Brooks went with what he had at the moment, and it was soon shown to be in error. He built an argument upon incomplete and erroneous information. Now, I don't think he's anti-Islander, etc. But I think he imputed motives to Snow that I don't think are in evidence. His own tweets later backed off what was said earlier. I think reporters with a critical, independent bent of mind (Logan, Brooks) don't care for Snow, who prefers his reporters to be pliant tools (enter Katie Strang). |

I do not know the guy. But I have figured out his true intentions from some correspondence. He, Alan Hahn and Greg Logan are good people and talented writers. I know he'll write a sarcastic piece again this year that may take a backhanded swat at our Isles. Only us Isles fans are allowed to do that. But knowing what I know now, I'd never send another moronic email again. They're all smart people who know how to get a response and get us talking. Just like Stan Fischler has for decades and no one loves the sport more than he. |

Then don't misuse the quote. Simple as that. Katie Strang should be held accountable for her own reporting, as should Chris Botta and everyone else. Strang's reporting in this case was limited and cautious, and highly dependent on Snow. Botta's reporting was ridiculous. Snow's own involvement seems rather limited, and the media circus/internet boards took care of the rest. |

Snow did not shoot that down.
He left it WIDE open for interpretation. Not blaming Snow for that offer, but it's horsedoody to say he shot it down. "Shot It Down" = "WE have NOT made an offer to him, I will say that we've spoken with his agent." Not on the Globe and Mail, CBC, TSN or any other NHL circle news source has there been an article with a quote from Garth shooting down that offer. I think that's why some are mad at him along with others. |

Well since no one knows just what Snow said over the telephone, via email, or in person it looks like pure speculation to me. To play judge, jury, and prosecutor is like the trials held in Salem MA. many years ago. And like what was posted a while ago, "it's a game, a G. D. game. IMHO

It's unimportant in what happened with Snow, Wang, Grossman, etc. What is important is the state of this franchise. It's run much like the Blackhawks years ago before they got wise and put some money into UFAs. But people can complain until they are blue in the face but Wang won't do a darn thing to make this franchise a winner unless he gets his toy. |
