Well since no one knows just what Snow said over the telephone, via email, or in person it looks like pure speculation to me.

To play judge, jury, and prosecutor is like the trials held in Salem MA. many years ago.

And like what was posted a while ago, "it's a game, a G. D. game.

IMHO

B)

It's unimportant in what happened with Snow, Wang, Grossman, etc. What is important is the state of this franchise. It's run much like the Blackhawks years ago before they got wise and put some money into UFAs. But people can complain until they are blue in the face but Wang won't do a darn thing to make this franchise a winner unless he gets his toy.

or departs like Wurtz, leaving his son to take over.
"clearly it's Rick DiPietro's stupidity that's put the islanders in this situation getting into an altercation when a game was over..." Keith Jones on VS

"But the Coliseum became a repository for all the team's troubles, a convenient scapegoat. There were suggestions that no major free agent ever would set foot in such a decrepit place. We have two words for anyone making that argument: Fenway Park. History says free agents would play in an old boxcar if they got enough money and had a chance to win." - Mark Herrmann

Steve, the source of the ten years for $100m was not Garth Snow.  It was a certain correspondent.  Indeed, Snow soon shot that down.

Snow did not shoot that down.

Quote:

"I'm not going to repeat this every day," general manager Garth Snow said when reached by telephone. "I've had a conversation with his agent and I'll leave it at that."

He left it WIDE open for interpretation. Not blaming Snow for that offer, but it's horsedoody to say he shot it down.

"Shot It Down" = "WE have NOT made an offer to him, I will say that we've spoken with his agent."

Not on the Globe and Mail, CBC, TSN or any other NHL circle news source has there been an article with a quote from Garth shooting down that offer. I think that's why some are mad at him along with others.

We're just going to have to agree to disagree. If Snow said there was no offer, then there was no offer. If there was no offer, then it doesn't matter what other people say.

That's the point I was making...Snow NEVER said "there was no offer".
He danced around it. His direct quotes were:

Quote:

“I made one preliminary call and we’ll see where it goes,” Snow said. “I felt it was my duty to make the call to inquire.”

Never said anything about an offer (that's why I'm not blaming him for the hysteria and I hope you understand that)

Next day he said:

Quote:

"I'm not going to repeat this every day," general manager Garth Snow said when reached by telephone. "I've had a conversation with his agent and I'll leave it at that."

Following day when it was revealed The Isles were OUT, Snow was quoted:

Quote:

“I’d rather keep those conversations between Jay [Grossman] and myself,” Snow said, when asked for comment.

No offer was EVER made, an inquiry was possibly made about a "short term" deal.
NO WHERE have we read that SNOW denied the 100m offer...that was drummed up in cyberspace by all the back and forth tweets, twats and :blah: gging nincompoops and some bought it hook line and stinker.
That's the travesty in all this, our fanbase got punched in the stomach again.
If anyone can find a quote from Garth where he specifically denies that he made an offer of 100m, please post it. All I saw were quotes of him being vague and suggesting he only had preliminary talks which allowed the
:blah: ggers to suggest he was being coy again and something was up.

I seriously hope the blogging world would just show respect for this fanbase and not spread rumors they cannot corroborate. All it takes is one slip, a quote from one respected source and like piranha they all jump on it and we're left with the skeletal remains after 3 days.
I think that's why some fellow fans are mad at Snow for never coming out and saying
"we NEVER made an offer, that 100m, 10 year deal was never made by us".

Let's purt it this way: whatever happened with Kovy set aside, firing and not replacing the head of scouting is simply stupid, and there one can point to Snow.

They didn't fire him, they didn't renew his contract so yeah, I guess they did fire him in a way.
You'll be surprised, but I don't blame Snow for this. My hunch is it's a cost cutting measure.

I read some stuff suggesting that what if the Isles stupid 7th round selection of Cody Rosen
(who wasn't even on many peoples draft list) had anything to do with some turmoil in Jankowski's release. I don't see it. Even though that pick was done as a favor as reported in a few media outlets, I doubt a 7th round disagreement would prompt something like this with NO replacement.

This one needs explaining. Especially in light of so many other cost cutting measures.
When you have the MOST optimistic fans almost agreeing with the fed up pessimists,
you know the fanbase deserves some better answers.

I'm having a tough time understanding this one.

So "Brooksie" puts an article in todays Post saying that the Rags should overcome the Knicks inability to sign James by signing the other "King", none other than IK. And this homer actually believes himself adding they should have a one hour show announcing it. You can't make this crap up.
And this is why I hate this PR jock munching smirking a-hole.
He's a shill, not a reporter.
Hey "Brooksie", something does smell fishy. It's your breath from sucking on Mark Messier's jock.

As for the latest "brooksie" entry. It's entertainment. There's even some swipes at the rags in there.

Asked tonight about Ilya Kovalchuk, Garth Snow said, "We'll see." Did not shoot it down. Don't shoot the messenger.

I know it's Ek, but still:

Mark Everson Today Suggests there is a mystery team in on Kovalchuk...a team that no one has suggested. So let me suggest all the teams I have heard... As far as I can tell the longshot teams are still NY Rangers, Toronto, Philadelphia, Ottawa, St. Louis, Ny Islanders and Anaheim
