Which Offseason Has Been the Worst in NYI History?; This one's in many people's top five

There've been far worse offseasons than this.

If anyone thought this team was going out and signing impact free agents they were sadly mistaken. They've consistently shyed away from free agency for years......so really I'm not surprised with what they've done.

Until we get a new arena keep expecting what you've seen.......because until then I honestly don't think its going to get any better during the offseason.

Not that its number one, but this one should be in the top 5-

1979

For those of us who remember, we had just lost a semifinal series to the Rangers 4-2, a series we were heavily favored to win.  The Canadiens feared facing us in the finals, but we failed to reach it.  We had to listen to Rangers fans al summer long

and there were rumors that the team was going to be broken up, that the gm and coach might be gone because the team always seemed to come up short.

Fortunately, the following year shut all that up, but 1979's summer was a brutal summer for Islanders fans.  Who knew we'd have several in the 90's and now that would surpass it for very different reasons.

Interesting choice I4C. I remember the loss to the Rag$ and all the sniping that went on in my town. God, that was awful and it made for one terrible Spring...Summer wasn't so bad, as Montreal ultimately corrected the travesty that was the Rag$ win.

Gotta say though, looking back at the Summer of 1979, not so bad at all when you consider this....

1- Duane Sutter
2- Tomas Jonsson
3- Billy Carroll
4- Ed Hospodar (Clark Gillies and Isles fans everywhere thank this draft pick!)
5- Rollie Melanson
Authority without wisdom is like a heavy axe without an edge: fitter to bruise than polish.

Anger makes dull men witty, but it keeps them poor.

In the beginning, the Universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move.

Yeah...it was nice of the Habs to do that, but I always hated the Habs for what they had done to us in two previous playoffs. Plus, we played street hockey in my neighborhood all spring and summer and I had to listen to all the Ranger d-bags who were also Yankee d-bags, so I got to listen to how they beat us and how the Yanks won 2 world series.

Looong summer.
I miss these :cup: :cup: :cup: :cup: and want more of them
