If he has 15 by New Years, the Isles can think about offering him a multiyear. I think what he got is a little too much, but I'm glad he'll be in the lineup opening day.

good fair deal for the cheap Islanders....mighty matt will walk the following year, the Isles will be more than willing, cause mighty matt won't duplicate his 1st year..(prove me wrong Matt).

wow--- first you were freaking out because he was going to arbitration and you and others feared we wouldn't sign him.

Now he's signed for a fair price and you already have him leaving next year.

Should we have given him a 10 year deal? How about a 15 year deal?

I won't even point out how I kept telling you the arbitration hearing was not a big deal and that the Isles would likely get a deal done without the arbitor. Now, I won't say that ;) :blah:

-----
Glad you are signed Matt. Wonder if Wang and Snow saw the joke of a contract MacArthur got from the arbitor and the Preds let him walk. If I recall, that contract offered MacArthur 2.2 mill per and this clown thought he was going to get paid it? Wonder if that number convinced Snow/Wang to get a deal done without arbitration...like what happens often every July.
I miss these :cup: :cup: :cup: :cup: and want more of them

Not bad, if he has another season like last year then extend him. If he goes 60 games with 2 goals don't. Smart, safe contract with the leverage on our side.

Geez, did I just say something positive about this organization?

Must be getting back to my old self... B)

Keep in mind that Moulson has been a good goal scorer at every level he's played. EVen his lookie lous with the LA Kings, he netted a few for the few games he played.

I for one wouldn't at all be shocked to see Moulson net 20-30 again this season for three reasons...

1- he's got a quick release
2- He LIVES in the quality scoring area known as THE SLOT... hello Tambellini...are you hearing that as your azz gets shipped to FA land?
3- He's big enough to live there and take some punishment in order to get good shots.

I don't think he's the next coming of Tim Kerr, but I think he can be an consistent 20-30 goal scorer...especially if he plays with quality linemates.
I miss these :cup: :cup: :cup: :cup: and want more of them

If he gets another 30, ya know Cholly ain't gonna pay what MM will command next time.

It's the Islander way. Enjoy your final season here Matt.

"freaking out" nope I wasn't freaking...just giving my opinion for the moment at time....

considering some of our bust of players in the past years, and the one "hit" wonders for some, and the fact management won't pay for those players, or for any for that matter...I would think it would be fair to say that matt could possibly be gone in a year or two time..considering our state of affairs of the country.

the only "joke" wang and garth see is trying to sell tickets to a fanbase that hasn't seen winning in almost 30 years with AHL players.

Even with him signing @ $2.5 million, we are still significantly under the cap floor. Doug Weight bonuses can't be the only filler here. What else is Garth going to add??? There is else something else, right???

Pardon us all for being a little shell shocked here. I forgot, we have been a stellar organization that has made no PR glitches, we have our front office intact, we're getting a new arena and we've signed five top level free agents, putting us right at the top of the cap. :bag:

Can't blame anyone for looking at this as the next STUPID thing we could potentially screw up, myself included.

The fact that they got one right will remain a debate, but we're all happy MM will be on the ice opening night.

Let's worry about Matt Moulson's contract next year and hope it is an issue. At least we'll get one more season out of him.

And while I am not confident by any measure, but a lot can happen in a year from the standpoint of how (or by who) this organizations runs.

Stempniak is still available, Willie Mitchell...

Oh and I had a Bill Guerin sighting yesterday.

Went to my weekly hockey clinic and he was signing autographs in the lobby of Superior Ice Rink in KIngs Park. His son just had a clinic which a good buddy of mine was working....he was swarmed by 9 year old but signed every last thing that was thrown at him...he was still there when I went down to suit up. He's a good guy.

With the Firing of Billy Jaffe. I first thought this thread was going to say that the Islanders hired MIKE MILLBURY as our next TV analyst. :bag:

I'm not debating that. I'm saying this thread was about Moulson signing a 1 yr deal. The guy had 1 good year, we gave a 1 yr contract before arbitration. What is the problem what that? There is no problem with it.
But I knew the "can't wait until he leaves next year" and "teams a joke anyway" responses would come into the thread...because they're in every thread, no matter what topic. Aren't there enough threads to complain in already? A lot of people are turning into that contingent of Red Sox fans who took the "Tortured Boston fan" as their identity before 2004. "We're cursed, we'll never win, any success is just setting us up for failure down the road" :blah: :blah: :blah:
It was really fun trying to talk to those people about their team...just like it is trying to talk hockey here.

You are right Oz. It's from the constant conditioning we receive, year in and year out, that it has skewed our view of the crest. It's a real shame too, and I'm just as guilty as anyone else. I used to look at the :isles: and get feelings of pride, can't wait for the season to start, excited about signings and trades, who's waiting in the wings to come up, etc, but now the first thoughts are cynical, like what's Wang's motive behind it, or how will this blow up in our faces. Who's to blame for a fundamental change in my outlook of this team? The increasing criticism of this team by the fans here or the results of actions by the team itself.

I want something to be proud of, like signing Kovalchuk, or winning a divisional title, something that the NHL writers around the continent will praise. When did that happen last, and what's the ratio of embarrassing stories to feel good stories about this current ownership and team?

I want those days to return when it's about how good we are as a team and organization, and when they do (if they ever do...see what I mean about my fundamental view) all of us fans will be writing with a different view point.
I sold it all, retired and moved to Fabulous Las Vegas!

It all depends on his ice time, and he will score more if partnered with Tavares. He really should be considered a rookie, only 29 games in the NHL before last year.
He is playing for his next contract, probably living at the gym this off season. Barring injury, I am going out on a limb and predicting another 30 for him.
