Since I was the only one who suggested the possibility of "cutbacks".... speculation is like ejaculation, you never know where it's going to land. But it still feels good. ya bastid.

Glad to see the GM has a set but WTF? Are you really telling me its better to have Bruno "I'm on the ice for 75% of the goals" Gervis out there then Nit Witt? Sit Gervies for a week and play Witt, maybe it shows that Witt can still play as a 4-6 D-man and then you get a 4th rd pick or...something from someone.....of course no one bit for a trade on a guy that hasn't played in a month and has a injury.....better then nothing and having to pay his whole contract. Just a thought. |

To me, it has a trade written all over this, Biron is in the port... I think somethings going to happen pretty soon, likely to involve either Tambellini, Biron and I think Comeau or all of them - just PLEASE DONT let it be Sheldon Souray. |

Gorton likes Gervaise's spaghetti carbonara better than Witt's tuna casserole. |

"clearly it's Rick DiPietro's stupidity that's put the islanders in this situation getting into an altercation when a game was over..." There were suggestions that no major free agent ever would set foot in such a decrepit place. We have two words for anyone making that argument: Fenway Park. In Garth I Trust

That's not the point. They have to send someone down to bport because if they don't, we are over our roster number. Apparently, the brass feels it is more likely that Bruno would definitely get picked up if he went on waivers. Niether Witt nor Gervais can go to bport without first clearing waivers. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Caps pick him up if he lasts that long on the waiver wire. He'd be a good depth pickup for them and only cost 1.5 mill next season so he isn't a huge cap hit to them. Plus, he's known to the organization. and they need a crease clearing dman with experience. |
I miss these and want more of them ![]()

So if this isn't motivated by the need to open up roster space to bring someone in via trade then what's the point? To keep Kohn in the lineup? That seems doubtful. Either they are working on something or this losing streak has Garth thinking draft already. it's very odd |

Maybe they've wanted to for a while, but only after this number of games and $ spent would we be able to shed his salary and still reach the cap minimum. |

We could use one for a run at the playoffs. People must be smoking crack to think that he could get much. We'd be lucky to pay hald his salary if he got picked up through re-entry waivers and that is what the Witt plan looks like. |

Witt is DONE as an NHL defenseman...only way to get a second round pick for him would be to take back a HIDEOUS contract in the deal. |

Not true I4C we only have 22 on the roster since Gillies was sent down, they are dumping him cause they couldn't get a trade worked out and they feel the defensive core of Streit, Gervis, Myer, Mac, Kohn, Sutton is better without Witt. And the Cap or any other team will only get that 1.5mil tag if he is put on re-entry wavier...not if he's claimed on the way down. |

VIVA LAS VEGAS
|
i doubt that would happen. Snow came out and said that Kovelchuck wasnt part of the "system" I think its total crap tho. Hes young, he can skate and he can put the dam puck in the net! I think they dont wanna pay his salary for whatever reason. Im sad to see Witt on his way out. Like others have said here it would have been a more logical choice to choose Gervais. The only difference is that is that Id hope Witt has more value than Bruno. Even Park should go before Witt... geez! |
| After a narrow victory in 1994, Boston Bruins defenseman Al Iafrate was asked why, in the closing moments of the game, he had fired the puck around the boards rather than into the empty net. His reply? "Empty-net goals are for faggots" | |

For those wanting Kovolchuk...ponder this. The Isles will most likely have to part with the following: - Josh Bailey - 1st round pick in 2010 - De Hann and/or Hamonic After spending the last 2 years getting this rebuild off the ground, does the organization want to jump ship for 1 player...even if he is a great player. I would love him as much as the next person, but the team is not in a position yet to make such a deal. We will have our chance down the road....patience. |

Anybody think its odd that Bailey was sent back east with an "upper body injury"? If, and I believe it would take a player of his ilk to get Kovalchuk, he showed no signs of injury is it possible they are not risking him in the TB game becausse he's part of a deal? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. |
