Who the F knows what they're thinking. I should send them my resume and have them hire me as Director of Public Relations. There is a much better way to do this, Charles. Trust me, I know.

I mean, even if it's bad news there is a right way and a wrong way to present it to the fan base.

This is childish.

We're going to make these moves, tell no one, then drop a bomb on everyone?

And he wonders why the TOH looks down on his project.

With the right management, direction and shared strategy this organization could be a powerhouse.

The way it's run it's not even an outhouse.

I'm here if 'ya need me, Charles.

The more this nonsense goes on the more likely players like Okposo and Tavares will jump ship for free agency as soon as they can. They will get all of their development in the pressure free Islanders environment and then jump ship to a winning organization. Tavares is already a freakin' God in Canada and I can see him dumping the Islanders as soon as he reaches free agency and heading for the great white north.

I am getting very sick of this Mickey Mouse organization!!!!! :disgraced:

Newsday reported yesterday that Janks firing was NOT because of money. But now Trots? How could it be anything but money? And they just stay silent about it. Snow is going to be the coach soon too. Two man circus...

Let me play the role of koolaider...

What if Mikhail Prokhorov was negotiating behind the scenes to buy the Isles
and build the scaled down version of the Lighthouse?????

What if he would announce signing of Kovalchuk????

What if he intended to THEN move the Nets away from Brooklyn and into the new Coliseum?????

What if he ALSO was buying the NY Liberty and moved them to Brooklyn, renaming them the Svetlana-Putanas while also making a small deal with the Shinnecock Indians for a small casino?

What if unicorns were real?

This part sounds familiar. In the 70's Roy Boe did the same thing, right? But at that time the new built arena was the Nassau Coliseum.

Can history repeat itself? :letssee:

Is Brendan Witt going to be our new GM? That would save some cash, Charles-you are paying him anyway.
And Goofy can be the head scout/player development guy.
Y? Because we like you!
This stinks worse than when Neil Smith and LaFontaine left, but they quit.

..........and the beat goes on. The beat goes on.

I'm just numb to it all by now. Considering Trotts (and the playoff series) is the reason I chose my handle, ya'd think I'd be more pissed than I am. Nope.

For I have become comfortably numb.

Kovalchuk? How about anyone halfway good? Shawn Bates is blinking in the other direction right now.

where's smitty and some others to help us make sense of this?

B)

Right here, Steve. I was out drinking Kool-aid with Wang, Snow, Jankowski, Trotts and your soon to be ex-ticket reps. They asked that I say "hi" and to let you know that they are holding a seat for you and even have some cookies waiting!

All kidding aside, I'm not sure you fully understand my perspective. Somewhat funny story...there was a time a few years ago that I got called out here on NYIC for being too negative!!! Yup, me, one of the most vocal Kool-aiders got a not so happy request to chill on the negativism and sarcasm because of my dissatisfaction with the team! Shocking, I know. This was at the start of the 2006 season. Why was I upset? Because another season had started and the Isles chose to continue to tread water and bring in mid-level talent and vets on their last legs instead of going with a rebuild. I am not here to explain the unexplainable or defend the indefensible (apparently, the indefensible is Bruno's job). I'm pretty sure that I've never once characterized Wang as conventional nor disagreed that our Front Office has made some "odd" decisions. But, and here's my main point, I really feel that I almost completely don't care about any of that other stuff as long as the Islanders win where it matters...on the ice. We can get whatever award is out there for most f***-ed up organization (oh, they've already named it after MM?) for 25 consecutive years and it wouldn't faze me in the least if we were winning. If Wang replaced the entire front office with porno-starring midgets (whoa! sorry, guys, have no idea where that came from. Seriously.) I don't know that it would change how I feel about where I see this team heading. In fact, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't.

But, you say, we are not winning at present time. True, but take a look at Webby's signature. That is why I am happy. I am very, very happy with the stable of young talent and the prospects for winning in the future. That is what it is all about for me.

Nowhere have I said that the news of the past few days would help this team but, to be honest, at this moment I just don't know that they are as lethal as some people make them out to be. They could be but we simply can't say at this point in time. Kool-aid is my choice of beverage because of what I saw on the ice last year. We improved almost 20 points. We committed to the rebuild and I am very, very happy that we did (and with how it is progressing). I wanted it back in 2006 and I'm thrilled that it is in full flight here in 2010. Putting a winning, exciting and viable product on the ice is what fuels my fandom. It sucks when there is more losing, but I can take some short term (a few years) losing if I see long-term success.

I've posted this before and I'll continue to say it, all of this other stuff (for me) is background noise. It is my belief that if the Isles were winning, or if they have a winning record soon (I actually think the 2011-12 season is when we will see a major change, but it may come this year 2010-11), you would see a marked change in the quality and tone of conversation here. Losing just magnifies people's dissatisfactions. But, if the Isles have a strong season this coming year, it is going to be odd hearing people complain about the latest Blog Box promotion when good stuff is going on out there on the ice. Are the off-ice problems and lack of winning product related? Perhaps in the past they were. I was certainly frustrated with the treading of water that began around 2004 or so. But I don't see that as the case now. We have a young and raw team that is learning and growing. For me, this past season was one of the most enjoyable in recent memory.

I'll support/defend Wang and Snow when I think they deserve to be defended. I'll call them out on moves that I think are counter-productive. But so many of these other issues, from the LH drama, to the Ilya soap opera to Blog Box frustrations to Front Office moves to who sits where at the Draft table...maybe I am being myopic...but I don't really spend much time dwelling on them. I'm not sure I've ever posted a comment in a thread on the LH. I'd like it to happen and think it could help this team, but all that other drama and nonsense that has accompanied it...thanks, I'll pass. Who knows, maybe it's just my disposition. But when I look at the path on where I see this team heading on the ice, I feel good. Really good. Kool-aid good!

So, with that, I need to order up another round of Kool-aid for the boys. I'll keep a seat here warm for you and all the other disenfranchised Isles fans. It is a bit lonely here right now but so were Chicago and Pitt recently. Eventually, this team will start to post more wins than losses and, when that happens, I have a feeling it would be good to own Kool-aid stock. We can debate what, if anything, changed in terms of front office personnel and management after we've recuperated from our Kool-aid hangovers. Until then, know that you always have a seat here and we look forward to your return to a more happy time. One that smells a bit like the early 80s.

P.S. If you made it this far, you deserve a drink...or a spin in the sack with one of the aforementioned midgets! And is it asking too much to get some explanation of these moves? Wang gets rightly criticized for not providing some insight to his fans on the recent moves. Wang should know better, especially after what he went through at CA. He gets poor grades here for being so tone deaf to the curiosities of his team's fan base.

I'm not so sure any of this was about $$$. After having a chance to sit down, take a deep breath and think about it, I concluded that maybe it's as simple as this:

Janks and Snow were not seeing eye to eye leading up to the draft this and Snow felt it would be better if the scouts reported directly to him. Simple enough.

As for Trotts, it could be a case of just hiring someone that may be more intune with todays game vs that of 20 years ago.

Or.....maybe Wang has caught a glimpse of LH plans and likes it so he is rearranging staff to help out with that project.

Maybe Trotts and Janks took candy away from mini wang and he told daddy to fire them.

Very well said smitty. Like smitty, I was a pretty negative around the time of the neil smith/DP contract time so I understand the frustration people have when you see an organization doing things the wrong way. I really get it. I don't think the "kool-aid" contigent is oblivious to the reality of what is going on here. When I think back to that time when I was really pissed, I finally got to a point where I said I can't let my agenda be bigger than the board (and I think I posted something like that at the time) - meaning, let me pick my spots because some people may just want to talk hockey. Not to offend certain folks but I'm going to be blunt here, I don't think they are allowing that. When negative comments are CONSTANTLY repeated in threads where people are trying to talk about UFA's or line combos, it's really frustrating and imo, not right. And I say "not right" just because I feel it ultimately takes away from the discussion islander hockey and being a fan. If we can't dream that tavares could be passing the puck to Kovalchuk, than what do we have...even if there is a 0.0000001% chance of it happening. If we can't dream that maybe these young kids could pull a 2009 Coyotes this year (because everyone saw that one coming, right), than what do we have? We might as well change this board to "NY Islanders Complainers".

In the other thread you called me out referring to me as "CHIEF" and suggested I was condescending and arrogant as if I know more than anyone else. I thank you. I feel as if I get indirectly called an "expert" repeatedly on here, that's fine. This board is recreation. Not real life. It's for fun and we have it. I often like to stir the pot and get people posting either by humor or controversy, but that opinion in the Brooks article was not stirring the pot. That was written with conviction.

I've read many fellow fans suggest this other stuff is background noise. I strongly disagree with that. (chose my words wisely there). The noise is deafening. But you guys know my feelings towards Wang.

Now please step over to the dark side.
It's fun over here. But let's be clear, while my fandom has never wavered - Wang deserves all
the "expert" flack he gets. IMO, until he is gone or some miracle occurs, it doesn't matter what
or how many prospects we have, the culture of winning will not be cultivated.

Nothing would be better if a new arena deal was announced. If our owner actually spent money, etc
But looking at our stable of prospects, to me we have achieved zippo. Why?
What good is it to have all these wonderful, rare, expensive sports cars when we have no driver,
no license, no insurance and no garage to store them in?
It's all about player development my friend. That's where I think we disagree most.
I just don't see enough having been done with this org to properly develop players
they've drafted. I really hope it all changes, cannot get worse.

Lastly, I am not ready to go over a cliff. I will continue to post and even go to the occasional game or 12 even though they tick me off with their circus.
Yeah, even though the events of he last 2 days has us all searching for a logical answer.
I'm a sucker. I'm an Islander fan.

 ;)
