What this team is still missing is a leader by example, one who puts team first, who's young enough to relate to these guys, but experienced enough to show them what it really takes to win and to teach them what kind of commitment and work it takes. I guess Mike Richards is out of the question.

Other than that I agree I4C, and I too think Franz should be our 3rd line center. Hunter is a square peg into a round hole on this team and I think it'd be best if Garth try and move him before all his value is gone. With his easy contract he may be movable.

Yeah, but he is big and is one of the only players on this team that hit hard. Unless you replace him with a player of equal size who hits than we need him.

Hunter is misused.....and has been. A gritty hard hitter who can score.

As for he leader who leads by example, I guess you'll just have to watch Wisniewski. He's a leader and will go all out as he did in the Det/Anal series.

And Martinek sitting so Gervais can play just says one thing: we need a new owner to get fans back into the game. Martinek is on the second line and vital there.
"clearly it's Rick DiPietro's stupidity that's put the islanders in this situation getting into an altercation when a game was over..." Keith Jones on VS

"But the Coliseum became a repository for all the team's troubles, a convenient scapegoat. There were suggestions that no major free agent ever would set foot in such a decrepit place. We have two words for anyone making that argument: Fenway Park. History says free agents would play in an old boxcar if they got enough money and had a chance to win." - Mark Herrmann

Moulson-Tavares-Comeau
Bailey-Schremp-Okposo
Hunter-Neilsen-Neiderreiter
Gillies-Konopka-Martin

Streit-Hillen
MacDonald-Wisneiwski
Eaton-Gervais

Niemi :P

Roloson
DP/Lawson

please tell me as coach or gm you wou'dn't play Gervais above Jurcina or Martinek.

And why would you have your first rounder with tremondous upside wasting on third line with Franz and Trent. Keep him in jrs if you are going to do that.

And where is Weight? He's making this team out of camp.

Well, assuming Martinek and Weight have their annual season ending injury, this is what the lineup would look like, excpet thinking about it, I would put Juice instead of Brutal.

With Nino, I guess I would swap him and Bailey, if he can handle playing both wings...hes a RW, right?

And technically, Weight isn't even signed yet, and I don't plan on him playing the better part of a season.

Comeau would have to be physical every night, and Martin would have to make the team.

Martin will make this team out of camp. I have no doubt about that.

What I would love to see is Jesse J make it out of camp as well. If he's progressed enough, perhaps the management won't feel a need to rush Nino.

I'll be curious to see updates about Petrov. Word is he turned heads in prospect camp, but thats just prospects.

Getting two of these three to legit make the team out of camp and not be rushed would be a nice bonus and a good step for our youth movement.

I hope Jesse J has an awakening, because his door is closing, not so much because he's been in our system now for 2 seasons, but there will be others that pass him on the opportunity scale and once that happens he'll need to be moved or become a permanent member of Bridgeport.

With the absolute stupid signing of Sim, Martin, JJ, El Nino, etc. can be put on a list and one of them WON'T MAKE IT even though thy deserve it.

Thanks, Garth, for Weight Sim and Park AGAIN. And I have no doubt Park will be signed. No doubt whatsoever.

I probably wouldn't have signed Sim for this team but nobody's asking me. Anyway, with Sim on a two way deal, there's no pressure to keep him up over the yutes, so it should* work out fine.

If Sim is the better player vs. prospects still developing, he's up. If not, he's in Bridgeport & NN, MM, JJ (probably that order, maybe more than one depending on injuries) joining the big club.

What's with all the same first/last initial prospects anyway?

Its either NHL or juniors for Nino Niederreiter, he's too young to play at Bridgeport.

Good point - could make camp that much more interesting since they have to decide on NN up front minus couple of games if he shows enough to keep him here.

They're going to have to name the "teams" after tough guys this season.

If Nino doesnt make the team, this is what I see us ending up with.

Moulson-Tavares-Okposo
Bailey-Schremp-Comeau
Weight-Nielsen-PA Parenteau
Gillies-Konopka-Hunter (ShutDown line)

Hillen-Streit
Eaton-Wizniewski
MacDonal-Jurcina

Extra: Sim, Martinek (depending upon health)

Roloson
DiPietro/Lawson/Koskinen

It is obvious when you look at it. Sim and Weight in, JJ NN MM = OO (On the Outside).

Like I said, I would really have liked the commitment to youth. Personally, El Nino and Matt Mart would be my choiices to fill the roster out deducting Dead Weight and Simmer No Sizzle.

But what do I know? They're following THE PLAN. :dontknow:
