Over at Yahoo Sports' hockey blog, Puck Daddy, they are running a series on the four representative faces of each of the thirty NHL teams. Here'e the entry for the Boston Bruins: http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_dadd...?urn=nhl-259942 Who would you place on the Isles' Mount Puckmore? Me? Trottier, Potvin, Bossy, and Nystrom (just beating out Smitty, because of his continuing work with the Isles). If coaches were involved, Arbour in, Nystrom out. Of course, you can take this in different directions ...

Bobby Nystrom is one of my all time favorite players but I would respectfully put Billy Smith and Clark Gillies above him in the pecking order. Just my opinion. |

Cholly, Spano, Milstein & Walsh. I can't even remember the good times anymore it's been so long. Those losers I mentioned get my vote. |

I don't thinkbyou can have it without Potvin. Plus, trots won 2 cups after leaving isles. Mine would be Bossy, Potvin, Smith and Gillies. |

Bossy, Arbour, Torrey, Potvin. Without them none of the past glory had a chance of happening. |

|
you have to have Nystrom he scored the most important goal in the teams history. and you have to include Billy Smith, just no way around those two, in the playoffs they were as important as Bossy and Potvin and why does it have to limited to four? Potvin, Bossy, Nystrom, Trottier, Billy |

I was gonna post that but withheld. Torrey, Maloney, Milbury and Snow? |

In terms of the pecking order, yes. But I don't think "the face of the franchise" is necessarily the same as "the four best." |

You can argue with Puck Daddy about why it's limited to four ... but that's the magic number at Mount Rushmore. |

Good thing it's not called MOUNT SUCKMORE, we'd need dozens of spots for players, management and others over Wang's tenure, enough to fill out the Appalachians. |

lol @ Mount Suckmore The ONLY possible people for Mount Rushmore are Bossy, Trottier, Potvin, Smith and Gillies. Nystrom has no place on it. I would go with the first four for a simple reason... Bossy is arguably the greatest pure goalscorer in league history Trottier is the best 2 way center in league history Potvin is the 2nd best dman in league history Smith won a Vezina and a Conn Smythe and it could be argued the biggest money goalie in league history. He retired with most playoff career wins and was suprassed by guys who had more games added to the playoffs. Yes, Ny scored the goal that started the dynasty...but one goal puts him on the there? Sorry but Ny was NOT more important than those 4 and not more important than Gillies. Gillies was elected captain after Westfall, not Nystrom, and I wouldn't argue that Gillies was the best anything in his era except if you combine his offensive skills with being a policeman. |

Have you seen Mt. Rushmore? Washington, TJ, TR, Lincoln- 4 presidents And sorry...no way Nystrom was as important in the playoffs as Potvin or Bossy. No way. Potvin easily could have won the Conn Smythe in 1980 and Bossy could have had another in 1981. He and Trottier were the first players to score 25+ points in 3 straight playoffs. Yeah, Smith was just as important, but not Nystrom. |

The Puck Daddy series isn't about the 4 "best" players, it's about the 4 people that defined the franchise. 1. 150% GUARANTEE Mike Milbury will be in there, unfortunately. 2. Definitely Bossy. 3. Probably Chuck Wang. 4. They could go the DiPietro route, they could go the Al Arbour route, or they could go the Potvin route. |
