Steve, we as fans are just caught in the middle of this freakshow of greed and power. If were only about the hockey.
I sold it all, retired and moved to Fabulous Las Vegas!

well, here's the reality of the situation -- would you rather kick away a couple of hundred dollars a night watching Wang's version of NHL hockey or take a chance with that money on the slot machines? :dontknow:

Is the premier game now showing up in the casinos, and that's where I place my money. Not to be confused with Texas hold'em or Texas hold'em bonus. A table game vs. the dealer with odds and an optional bonus bet. 50/50 game with the potential of some big payouts.

I'm going to be doing some extensive research from Sunday thru Thursday in Vegas to the already extensive research I've conducted over the last year.

Good luck!! Hope you win a bundle.

Okay, I usually take the summer off from posting, unless of course it is an absolute must. And this one is.

Cockswoods?????

This has to be the most hilarious thread ever appearing on Islander country. I swear, I almost peed my shorts.

Big Chief Holdingwang. I love it.

And they will never let this happen, IMO. Interesting that they still say Wang never responded. What the hell is he doing, holding his breath?

Note to Wang: Jump in bed with the injuns. Theres plenty wampum in those teepees.

Only us, ladies and gentlemen, only us.

But thanks to the off ice circus with Hempstead politics and the ulterior motives of
our owner coming to fruition we've been saddled with unnecessary drama.
Being an Islanders fan shouldn't be filled with this much stress.

This is a place I know well. I have given up getting irate about all of the nonsense surrounding this team. I focus my attention on the 'on-ice' product more than anything else. Chris dey...whatever...casino-ever happen but terrific...charles wang and his land grab, blah, blah, blah.

I choose to get something positive out of this team, otherwise watching every game would lead me to more stress and nausea. Most everyone on here has such ill will towards this team. Not me. I have positive feelings about the next few years with this team as long as snow continues the rebuild. Cant control any of the other crap, so why worry and obsess about it. I keep it to on-ice affairs and it makes following my team more enjoyable and less stressful.

That's where you and I, not "this place" or anyone else fundamentally disagree.

The Isles don't ruin my day. I have a terrific family, job and "life".
I hope no one is short sighted enough to assume that anyone posting negative comments about a pro team's management
and off ice operations etc is a miserable person.

Here's something I learned a long time ago when i minored in psychology back in college.
When people go out of their way to prove to the world how happy they are and how wonderful things are,
they're not trying to convince others, they're trying to convince themselves.

Because this is a message board some things get lost in translation. I have a good idea what you meant, but even your innocuous statement can be read in different ways. I will assume you were not implying that about me.

Of course not every person who complains is a self-loathing slob. My objection comes with how most every thread is littered with bashing and wanger doesn't help with some of his strange decisions. If you dont see how every thread is a torch-job, then we will never agree. I think it is a matter of degree between us.

BTW- while you minored in psychology, I majored in it. ;) :D

Jack, no one ever denied that many have "littered" with negativity. They're venting. I'm venting.
I enjoy games with my son. But I know the ulterior motives behind Wang's "plan" (amongst other things) and that bugs me. Others vent too.
If that many are compelled to vent, why can't they? Their record speaks for itself and I don't care how many team lackey's they throw bones at and prod to do their GOOD to disseminate false hope.

Doesn't mean any of us hates the team, don't enjoy going to games with their children or burn their jerseys in effigy to the team's management. We just don't trust this owner with his lies based on his rack record. That's our right.

If people believe they're justified in venting (torching), then they are, same as you could be justified to skip along throwing rose petals from your basket of love for Wang's road to prosperity.

I can't see the NHL being very happy about one of their team's home venue's being attached to a gambling Casino. If I lived anywhere near there I would say no freakin' way. Crime and traffic would both go through the roof. I am starting to hope that the Queens people come through with a better offer to Wang. They could have the new building up by 2015 when the lease is up. The TOH and Nassau don't deserve the Islanders. I am sick and tired of them using the team as a pawn. Years of discussion and planning for the LH, then they turn that down and ask Wang to scale back, now a totally new Casino proposal. Wang and the Islanders have gotten zero respect from the TOH. Time for Wang to pull the plug on them and sue them for dragging him through all of the studies and process when they knew all along they were gonna turn down his plans.

Or, the league could be THRILLED about it. The NHL has been rumored to want a Hockey team in Vegas for a long time now. This could be the test run. The future of hockey. Think of the possibilities: the Atlantic City Devils, the Fox Woods Bruins....
Since they couldn't beat Texas Hold'em in the ratings, they decided to join them.
Come on, I mean the leagues commissioner's name is Gary freaking BETTman!

This is nothing more than another slap in the face to Wang/Rechler. Mangano has been discussing this since January and can't have the decency to advise Wang about this? This is a big "screw you" from the County/Town.

And the best these Republicans can do is a damn casino? Nothing makes me more sick than hypoocrites. This is the same party that runs on family values and they dare bring a casino? Where's all the concern about traffic and crime that were raodblocking the LH? A casino is not going to bring traffic and crime here?

I have said this before - there is nothing wrong with alternative options. I hope this wakes up Wang/Rechler to consider Bklyn and/or Queens. Enough with this BS already.
