Price wise - a bit high... but, we get intangibles, size, demonstrated scoring ability (not a contract year or fluke season.)

It's a name, too. :)

Good pick-up - now that I think about it, I give a flying F about the money.

We offered Nilsson, O'Marra and a first rounder for him at the deadline but St. Louis turned it down. Kinda like we traded for him instead of Smyth I guess.

there ya go Garth..

if we land Comrie and improve the D we have a decent shot at being competitive and the worst case scenario is we deal these guys off at the deadline.

nice to see there is some sort of plan here.
"We're not in a bind at all," Burke said. "I'd say of the 29 teams, we don't talk to Edmonton, so of the 28 other teams, there's plenty of interest in making this predicament go away. I could hang up the phone and solve this."

I think if you had to offer him anything, this was it. I bet he was seeing offers around the 3.5 range so overpaying a little bit to land him is no big deal. Especially given his size and grit and the fact we have tons of money to spend.

Not only that. We have a proven veteran power forward who will be able to help in the development of Hunter and Kyle O. Don't kid yourselves, this is the sort of thing that the Isles needed ON MANY LEVELS.

I'd rather give 4.5mill a year to Guerin than Satan. Guerin will get his nose dirty and be the prototypical power forward that we need.

This is nice. Hopefully it will convince Comrie to come to the Island. We still have guys to get for other spots, but 4.5 mill per for 2 years is not breaking the bank. Not when you consider that Guerin is more proven than Blake and we are only giving up .5 more for Guerin. with the intangibles Guerin brings, I'd rather have Bill than Jason.

Jason can't tell anyone how a cup is won. Bill can.
I miss these :cup: :cup: :cup: :cup: and want more of them

something funny is going on with Souray. He must be wanting ridiculous money or years if he hasn't been signed yet.

Plus Fedotenko has Cup-winning experience. Pull the trigger on Comrie on my drive home, will ya?
