I would've preferred Potvin. If for nothing else than to annoy NYR fans.

Seriously, I liked Potvin on the Panthers broadcasts. Butch talks too fast and is a pure homer.......which is what Wang wants. Butch said 3 years ago he liked the team and the kids/garbage they had.

But don't worry, for all those who don't like Butch you can always mute the TV and turn on the radio broadcast to listen to those announcers. Wait a minute!!!!!

Two weeks prior to the opening of training camp, the Islanders have yet to announce their plans for radio broadcasts. Last season, the team made a financial-based move to simulcasts. After criticism in the media and from their fan base, there has been some discussion about returning to a traditional radio broadcast.

Could it be this Godforsaken organization actually is thinking of getting something right for a change? I'll believe it when I see it.

Have a few days off. I'm sitting here having my coffee, watching Isles/Blackhawks 3-2-10 replay
on MSG+ and I'm marveling at all the great insight that Jaffe provides.

Toews-Okposo friendship and competitive nature going back to St. Mary's.

He and Howie touched on the Hawks building through the draft but SPENDING via free agency
for Hossa and Campbell. (Hmmmm)

He also called out Park and Weight who stopped skating on a shift, watching Hossa with the puck who drew a penalty.
He praised Trent Hunter (who was playing hurt) but finished 5 hits through the 1st 2 periods while young guys like Kohn
and Hillen were hesitant to do so in the 1st period and we got caught running around and chasing the play.

Anyway, I love Goring but don't know if he has the capacity Jaffe has for also giving insight outside the game on the ice.
Goring is a simpleton, not a detail oriented analyst.

what are they going to do when all these Dynasty players have passed on? i can see it now in 2057 dave langevin will be the last man alive from the "Core of the Four" and he will be the color "new color guy " replacing the Mike Bossy Android that malfunctioned the previous season during a ceremony honoring the cup teams, which coincidentally was the only sell out that season

dont get me wrong i love all these guys they gave me great joy as a youth, but every time they want to try to hide the fact that this team isnt going to compete they bring these guys around and start talking about the glory days. it really cheapens the memory of the great teams.

I think Butch can be just as critical as Jaffe. I loved Jaffe and how not only how we worked on our games but always discussed and praised the Isles on channels such as Versus, NHL-Network and NBC.

No one should praise anyone for playing like crap. Thats like saying to a kid, wow you got a D on your reportcard, nice job! At least it wasnt an F. Jaffe was always honest and none the less a good sport about everything in the Isles organization. I give him even more credit for having to deal with Howie Rose and all that bs about Egg Levine...really Howie who cares.

Why did Goring get the job over Kate Murray again?
"clearly it's Rick DiPietro's stupidity that's put the islanders in this situation getting into an altercation when a game was over..." Keith Jones on VS

"But the Coliseum became a repository for all the team's troubles, a convenient scapegoat. There were suggestions that no major free agent ever would set foot in such a decrepit place. We have two words for anyone making that argument: Fenway Park. History says free agents would play in an old boxcar if they got enough money and had a chance to win." - Mark Herrmann

As far as I know, Billy Jaffe still works for both NBC and Versus. Perhaps he will just increase his national broadcast coverage.
