Former NHL player Steve Webb and SportsCentre's Dan O'Toole are participating in a 650 mile bike ride from Long Island, New York to Peterborough, Ontario beginning Saturday.

The event is to raise money for Alzheimer's research and for Steve Webb's foundation which gives scholarships to kids.

Blogs throughout the ride will be made on Steve Webb's site at www.w20foundation.org and Dan will also be providing updates on Twitter. Hockey Hall of Famer Pat LaFontaine is also joining them for stretches of the trip, along with former NHLers Bob Nystrom, John Druce and Rob Zamuner.

The W-20 Foundation's mission, in the tradition of its founder Steve Webb, is to aid in the development of the future leaders of Long Island by providing educational grants and mentoring to amateur ice hockey players who exemplify Dedication, Leadership, Purpose, and Passion.

Donations can be made at www.w20foundation.org and all proceeds will be sent on to Alzheimer's research.

I tip my hat to Steve Webb. Alot of guys can speak out for a good cause, but it takes a character guy to go the extra mile (pun definitely intended)

It takes a MAN like Steve Webb to do something like that.

You know what they say "Actions speak louder than words"

WOW Webb actually won that fight. Sorry, but my fondest memories of him in those jersey's were him getting his arse whipped. Thats pretty impressive, even to a guy like Boughner who's pretty tough

It's nice to see an ex Islander get all the publicity especially up there in Canada, but it seems kinda farfetched and unlikely, did you read his website, novice bike riders from here to Ontario???
