I was hoping we could have an actual defenseman man the other point with Streit this year on the PP. I guess that is a luxury.
Other than that, his being on the roster is not a problem. Bruno is another story.

The only way this organization will ever listen is when they sell hardly any tickets

They now have less than 3K full season tix holders. How much lower can it go?

If they haven't listened by now they never will.

It all depends on the real estate/arena situation not what fans do.

:disgraced:

If it were worth it to go to games and not endure Richard Park getting so much icetime, people would spring for tickets.

No new arena would make up for the value Snow and Co. give fans. Like was said, the Hawks didn't sell out their new, SoTA arena until the guys in skates were worth paying to watch.

wanna be a well tuned Vette needing a paintjob or a POS but beautiful Maserati needing a mechanic every friggen week?

You should know by now that EVERYTHING comes from Cholly's perspective. Meaning, to Cholly and on LI it all depends on the real estate/arena situation not what fans do.

You think Cholly should/would pay Hossa and pay to the cap max like the Hawks do under the current conditions on LI?

Wang might spend so he can sell the team or because he can't stand being a schmuck any longer.

Yeah, that's JUST like the Hawks.

Hold your breath and wait for Cholly to do that.

It's nicer than saying Cholly will croak and the kid in the hat takes over.

Doug Weight's contract to be finalized soon

12:30 PM By Katie Strang

Although 39-year-old captain Doug Weight agreed to terms with the Islanders "in essence" earlier this summer, his contract has yet to be registered.

That should be resolved soon according to his agent Steve Bartlett.

Although there was an initial delay to work out the bonus structure of his contract, the terms have recently become finalized and the deal should be made official within the next couple of days.

I have no problem with this one, as I've stated in the past. Hopefully the guy will be healthy enough to compete at a higher level compared to when he was playing hurt last year. We need veteran presence and It'll actually be interesting to see how it plays out. Who will be captain in '11-'12?

Oh please.

we're actually poised to compete for a playoff spot this year with the revamped defense. And this time we actually have depth at the position.

All of younger forwards - Okposo, Tavares, Bailey, Comeau all played well last year and should improve on their play this year.

We finally have depth at the wing position with Martin and Neiddereiter waiting in the wings. Although I'm not thrilled that they brought back Sim and Hilbert (of all people), at least they are on two-way deals - and have plenty of NHL experience if we need to call upon a player due to injury.

I'm curious to see who is going to push Gillies out of his spot on the 4th line during training camp.

So we didn't make a big splash in free agency, as usual, but the defense looks a hell of a lot better this year than last. And this team almost eeked into the playoffs last year with Kohn and Brutal Bruno back there.

If DiPietro finally plays this season, this team will surpise some people - especially our own fans.

playoffs? ok i'll bite.
with the stunning additions of Mr. Knee/Back injuries Never played A Full Season Eaton and Mr. Injury/Sick/Bus traveling Never Played a Full Season Jurcina, Martinek will probably last a game or two more before being shut down...again.

I'm being critical because every season I'm foolishly optimistic. Not this time. We'll come close, like 10th place close, but we are not playoff ready. And say we do make the playoffs, woop-de-F'N-do, an 8th place finish for an early exit in the first round. How many times have we seen that?

An 8th seed would be great with this team. It's not the same as years past where a veteran laden team underachieves to the 8th seed. A young core of forwards with almost no veteran, high end talent OVERACHIEVES to the 8th seed - that would make this season a total success (even if it is wishful thinking at this point).
