As bonzy18 just posted in the O v B scrim thread he's gone for 6 months. So, who's the highest ranked prospect in the draft this year? We'll be picking him! http://twitter.com/KatieStrangNYI/status/25612580759 |

Maybe this turns out to be good anyway. With no expectations at all on our D, we can only be in for a positive surprise... |

Chris Botta on Point Blank Seems CB was a little off, or his sources aren't as good as they once were. There's a great deal of difference between "hoping" for 4-6 weeks and six months a short while later. Yeah, I'd say he's going to miss more than a month ... much more. |

Terrible news. Or, good news for team if the goal is another lottery pick. You know what this means fellow fans???? Ready? The talk about Wang giving Garth COMPLETE control to "spend" if need be...Well, it's NEED BE. Screw current depth, Streit is our best defenseman and if they were SERIOUS about this year, then don't point to the depth as excuse to not spend, they have to bring in another defenseman to fill in. Someone NOT named Redden or Souray please. Not an easy task for Garth or anyone but a move needs to be made. Watch, I'll just bet you they'll spin this into an opportunity for Hamonic or deHaan to make the team.

I have. It's certainly one of the worst things that could happen to us. Streit is more than defenseman, more than PP point quarterback, more than top minutes guy, more than go to guy when a game is on the line or having to play against another teams best. He's all of those for our team. This is a huge set back for our team even before they've dropped the puck.

It puts a lot of pressure on Wisniewski. Damn, we are lucky to have traded for him. I'd like to see another offensive defenseman traded for to give the prospects a chance to get experience before coming up. I'd rather see the rooks in there though if given the choice of a journeyman defenseman or one of them. Best case scenario, the timing seems like it could work where he comes back in March or April, just in time for a playoff run/playoffs. |

All I will say is "Moulson better score 40 goals this year". He now owes us Isle fans and the team Added: If indeed the reports are true and he is out for 6 mths, his salary will not count against the cap and Snow will be forced to sign someone else just to get to the cap floor. Moulson and a 3rd pck to Tor for Kaberle. Then get Kaberle inked to a new 5 yr deal to play along side of Striet. Give me a call Garth if you need anymore advice. |

I just want to say one thing. I know it's just venting on some peoples part but I hope no one is seriously blaming Matt Moulson for this. It was a freak accident. Mild contact and it sort of bugged me to read on TSN that "Moulson cross checked Streit". I do not blame Moulson for this. The team will rally around him after the joking/teasing and they will move on. We need to also.

Really? He better or what? Suppose this happened in practice(which is basiclly what this was).
This is not correct either....if the Isles wanted to put him on LTIR then they could sign someone and have whatever portion of Striet contract be wavied. Example - They sign someone for 4.0 mil....3.5 of that would be covered by Striets contract and only the additional .5 mil would count against the cap. Edit - I would also like to add that if the Isles weren't suppose to be China there wouldn't have been an inter-team scrimmage and this injury would/could have happened at a pre-season game....would that have made it better that some rookie from another team could have caused this???? It was a freak accident!!! |

Bring back...PRIDE OF THE ISLAND
|
yes the team will rally behind mighty matt...they will start the season on a 15 game winning streak never looking back..seeing how its now, the whole world against little matt..the team shows its togetherness. Streit makes a full recovery returns in march just in time for the playoffs. Mighty Matt becomes a force in the playoffs, noone can stop him. The team follows his lead all the way to the stanley cup final. Its a tough battle for the team. Going against another surprising team, the edmonton oilers. A return to the glory days of both franchises. The media is eating this up. It becomes a very close series, forcing a 7th game at the NVMC..one minute to go in the final per.the isles down by a goal, they pull the goalie..tavares gets the puck skates up ice into the oilers end feeds a nifty pass to okposo who fakes a shot a gives to migthy matt who has a wind open net and misses as time expires... hey, it can't always be a happy ending. DON'T STOP DREAMING |
