The most interesting man in the world
Here is how I see this injury.

-He will be back sooner than expected

-While we can't likely replace Mark's overall skill and leadership, the new additions on D will offset this loss to some extent

-The majority of our younger players will be smarter, faster and stronger than last year.

If we can get solid goaltending on most nights, we can still look for a playoff spot rather than another high draft pick. By then, Streit will be re-injected into our lineup for an exciting spring run.

At the end of the day, it's all about the whiskey, gambling and women !

That's very optimistic of you my friend but please don't bet a pinky cut-off on it.
Otherwise your claps will never sound the same.

That's very optimistic of you my friend but please don't bet a pinky cut-off on it.
Otherwise your claps will never sound the same.

season opener 2 days!!! before you quit on the season at least hear me out for one sec. I am a fan of streit, he is excellent and obviously so important to this team... but in my heart I beleive that if we could only have one of them that a healthy Martinek (while he doesnt produce the highlights or get the media accolades) is far more important to our success then streit.

AS long as marty is healthy which i am sure wont be long;-( then i dont see why this injury leaves of worse off. Obviously having both would have made abig difference, but not to many people would be sayign no playoffs if martinek went down, they would be saying "well that didnt take long".

Of course i am assuming that his annual injuries havent effected him too much, i know he started slow last year, but he was playign great again before he went down.

Just look at/recall the record WITH Martinek in the lineup and without.

Streit is vital, but those numbers don't lie. Steady defense (even in the Jimmy System) from Marty is HUGE if we plan on winning.
"clearly it's Rick DiPietro's stupidity that's put the islanders in this situation getting into an altercation when a game was over..." Keith Jones on VS

"But the Coliseum became a repository for all the team's troubles, a convenient scapegoat. There were suggestions that no major free agent ever would set foot in such a decrepit place. We have two words for anyone making that argument: Fenway Park. History says free agents would play in an old boxcar if they got enough money and had a chance to win." - Mark Herrmann
