My gut says 1 game and then you add the anti-Islanders suspension multiplier of between 2 - 5, meaning he'll get anywhere between a 2 and 5 game suspension. Lock it up.

I reckon this guy is awesome for merely doing just that to Avery, a scumbag of the highest order.
Probably the only Islanders fan in Australia.

love his play and hope we do extend him by christmas, if keeps playing at this level.

That said, I always get annoyed when hockey gets bad publicity, like on ESPN, where the incident is in the headlines today but you'd never hockey there otherwise. The greatness of this game is rarely applauded in the mainstream media but when stuff like this, which isn't that big a deal, happens or a cheapshot like Simon, you see it all over the place.

Jan 1st is when the window opens.

He's 26 and is making 3.25 mil this year....your going to have to give him 4mil at least if he continues to play like he has been.

I can see him getting a similar # to Streit. 4.25 to 4.5 possibly.
Question is, does he want that number more vs he wants that number here, with us.

Still, way too early to tell, just 2 games in.
This team has a tough 4 games in 6 nights coming up.

Let's see how he, the team, the system etc handle that.

My Take:
Wiz was just giving Avery tips on the finer points of proper oral hygiene....using an invisible 18" Salami as a prop.

Right On Time.
I like the guy a lot too but easyyyyyyyyyyyy talking about Streit money etc.

He has turned the puck over a lot and hasn't played against a high powered offense.

This is where people get too high and too low. Comeau isn't scoring 80 goals, Bailey won't have 120 points and this guy is not a 4.5 million dollar d-man after two games.

I read a post on point blank that said Avery had made the same gesture during pregame skate. I saw some of the pregame antics but didn't see Avery make that sort of gesture. Didn't see it all though and was wondering if anyone did see it?

Here is the post from a point blank reader:

Last nite I watched the Rangers in 60 version of the highlights of the game. They were showing that the two teams were both talking smack to each other at the red line before the game. You can clearly see that Avery made the exact same “gesture” that Wisniewski did, while he was so politely speaking with the Isles players in pregame warmups.

Steve I know ha, it wasn't just you.

At the game after the hit and goal he scored.

I like him a lot, but on good teams he is second pair defense-man.

I know that isn't us yet. In a year or two I hope it is though. I hope DeHaan, Streit, a FA and then Wiz, with some of these other guys.

We will not score these many goals on a nightly basis so we better not give up 4 plus a game.

Pre-game with no cameras (for the most part) and during the game, is totally different.

I honestly didn't see Avery do that.
I saw Konopka push him and I heard the Rangers announcers say Konopka was over he red line but the perspective I saw was Avery being slightly over, if that.

All in all, maybe we fans are making a bigger issue of this than there should be vs looking at it
as a good thing that the rivalry will heat up again.

Tinman, I disagree. Avery got suspended for comments off the ice a couple of years back. Doesn't matter if it's during a game or not. If the same gesture was made, the NHL will consider it. Either give both fines or 1 game suspensions. Will all depend on what message the NHL is trying to send out. The NHL is more then familier with Avery and his misguided behaviour, it will only help our case.

unless they edited it out today (which i suppose is very possible) there is certainly no gesturing done by avery... just his typical yapping away.

not sure what to think of wisy yet, but he is intriguing... AND DO NOT be surprised when blake comeau leads this team in goals and is somewhere very close to 40. Of course nobody else will have 25 (unless Jt is back and healthy very soon)

Hey, I'm still here....scored yesterday even....guys?
"clearly it's Rick DiPietro's stupidity that's put the islanders in this situation getting into an altercation when a game was over..." Keith Jones on VS

"But the Coliseum became a repository for all the team's troubles, a convenient scapegoat. There were suggestions that no major free agent ever would set foot in such a decrepit place. We have two words for anyone making that argument: Fenway Park. History says free agents would play in an old boxcar if they got enough money and had a chance to win." - Mark Herrmann
