LATE AGAIN?????????

Quote:

Kirill Kabanov shows up late...again

39 m ago By Katie Strang

Don't be surprised to see Kirill Kabanov bag-skated after practice this morning.

The 18-year-old enigmatic winger was late again today and received a stern dressing down from coach Scott Gordon before the group took the ice. Kabanov had to wear someone else's equipment because he did not have time to change into his own.

This latest transgression comes a little more than a week after his first strike--when he missed the first day of rookie camp last Monday.

Judging by his punishment the following day--15 minutes of hard sprints after practice with assistant coach Scott Allen--he may be looking at some extra ice time today.

I'm inclined to say they should cut his ass from camp right now... :dontknow:

At least he wasn't in the car with Braylon Edwards.

Oh well...it was a gamble worth taking. Still has time to mature and become an asset.
Not like we wasted a 1st rounder on him. Being late 2 times is the least of troubling headlines he could of made.

Yea I agree up to a point....BUT we are talking about trying to crack the lineup of a an NHL team. Being late twice inside of a week to ur FIRST pro camp is utterly unacceptable.
I'll compromise...this is strike 2...one more strike and he is cut till next year...talented or not.

LETS SEE WHAT HE'S GOT FIRST
IF HE'S THAT GOOD
AS LONG AS HE GETS THERE BEFORE THE NATIONAL ANTHEM ENDS
IT WOULD WORK FOR ME

He didn't have any standout showings in the rookie exhibitions I saw.

Botta hinted that he had

a few anecdotes I’ve heard behind the scenes,

Wonder what those were.
Did someone offer him fresh baked cupcakes and he smeared them in persons face?
Did he a light a fart in weight room causing a dumbbell to fall on a teammate?
Did he Saran wrap the toilets?

Maybe the coach should make an example of him, in front of his teammates.
Not after the fact. If that hasn't happened already, maybe it should.

Send him home until next year. Immediately, if not sooner.

It's not a hockey-thing. It's a respect-thing and we need to show some self-respect before we can earn it from the rest of the league.

Probably has fungus on his shower shoes as well.

All I know is if I were 18 and have a chance at making an NHL team, I'd be there a hour early each day waiting for the doors to open, especially if I was already late once before. If my kid was late for his NHL break, he'd be more afraid of me than the team if it happened a second time.
I sold it all, retired and moved to Fabulous Las Vegas!

Maybe that's the problem Nick. Maybe he doesn't have that type of figure to keep him on the right path. Wanna volunteer? :D

Believe me, I'm not counting on any of my kids to fund my retirement. I have better odds with Lotto.

I'd like to know just how late he was before I decide if it's a big deal or not. Was he over and hour late both times? Was he a couple minutes late? Or was this a case of "If you're not 15 minutes early you're late."?

I get what you're saying but, we haven't heard this about Bailey, Okposo, Tavares etc in their rookie camps...so does it matter how late????

Guess thinking it over, I'm with the team on this.

UPDATE: Kabanov was bag-skated for 15 minutes after the first session, given a ten-minute break, then skated again for another 15 minutes until the second group got on the ice. He also had to do several pushups and crunches before leaving the ice.

Afterwards, Kabanov said he regretted his tardiness.

"I feel bad," he said. "I didn't fall asleep, but I was late for warm-up. I made it in time for practice, and that's about it."

I'm not sure if this is a language issue...but what does he mean he didn't fall asleep? AND it almost sounds like he is dismissing as only being late for warm up...which ain't a great attitude IMO

Simple question...why were U late?

I agree with CUPZ. If he fills the net and hits everything in sight I personally don't give a crap if he skates the first shift with his laces dragging behind him and his helmet on backwards; then falls on his face 'cause his pants fell to his ankles when he tries to hop over the boards.

Now if he plays like crap, I reserve the right to change my mind.

Until then, and until we know some of the points made here (like, was he 5 minutes late, in the building on time but late out of the room etc.) its a non-issue.

Hell, he may be the most exciting and interesting guy we have, who knows?
