Classic example of damned if you do, damned if you don't. Always complaints the coliseum is empty. always complaints the tickets are too high. They try to do something that brings people in for an affordable rate and it's another mistake. Truth is so many other teams offer up $10 tickets when they know their building will not sell out and it is the same thing for those season ticket holders. Yes, it is annoying to those who paid more, but then again, would it be more annoying if you were alone in your section and had to hear it the next day how empty the barn is and how there is no fan base. This is a catch 22 in a difficult market. |

YOU'RE RIGHT THEY ARE DAMNED EITHER WAY BUT REALLY WHO HAS THE BALLS TO RAISE TICKET PRICES AS MUCH AS THEY DID WHEN THE TEAM HASNT DONE SQUAT FOR THE LAST 4 YEARS THEN THEY TAKE AWAY ALL THE STH PERKS THAT WERE FUN ONLY TO BE REPLACED WITH A CHEAP KNOCK OFF AND THEN HAVE TO PAY TO ATTEND |

Dee, management is responsible for the empty seats and ONLY management. They decided to put on the ice a far inferior product and it shows in the wins and losses. To raise prices was an insult to any reasonable hockey fan. In fact, the only suckers were those who decided to pay more to a management that wasn't much interested in making the team better. Exactly. How about damned if you make a nimrodic decision to hike ticket prices, parking and everything else and then rub it into the faces of those who ante up the most to see their team by rubbing salt into the wound with far cheaper tickets for non season buyers who don't spend as much damned if you don't? I hope Wang hears from season buyers over this. They should get a partial refund to keep them next year.....or a mild threat to sell their seats if they don't renew before the UFA season opens up? Again? |

If they were worried about attendance, they should've cut season ticket prices in half until they have reason to raise them. When it becomes hard to get tickets to the Isles, then you know it's time to raise prices. We didn't commit to a plan because the price became too much for the value, not to mention another $100 at the arena for each game in food and parking for the family. We know they will undercut those STH prices with promos as we were angered last season by the practice, so when we attend this season we'll be the ones getting the bargain. |

Simple solution: STH's pay the cheapest price the Islanders would sell the seat for. If there's a special pricing on your seat, you get a credit/refund/whatever of the difference. Problem solved. |

I have an even better solution..Don't buy season tickets. By NOW one is going to know that Islander tickets are EASY to get. It is rather foolish to pay more and complain when you know already what they plan on doing. There is no incentive. Go the cheap route. Or if you insist, go the partial route. but don't complain what a business does (and yes it is a business they have to make money) if your foolish enough to spend it. Let the buyer beware.

I absolutely agree they should not have raised ticket prices. I even wrote about it (and it went under the radar). but I'll stop at the putting an inferior product on the ice thing. Only because perhaps now you are seeing the fruits of that inferior product which was basically inferior because it was still a hatchling. How many other teams use this model? Suck bad enough until you can draft to become a powerhouse. It's a tough one, but it seems to work. But TOTALLY agree - Raising ticket prices in this market at this time was just one of the worst things they could have done to the fans and themselves. Now as far as the parking goes, that too is rediculous, but sadly well in line with the rest of the arenas in the NHL. (Which really says a lot of how much they make off parking.) |

You know what, parking on the street is rather easy. And it's a five or 10 minute walk to the gate. No problem. Regarding a better product, talk to me in March and let's make realistic conclusions. The first couple of weeks do not give us any concrete thoughts on this subject. See LAST year. |

My son decided at the last minute to go with a friend to the game. He travelled from Monmouth County where he goes to college. Parked at Hofstra (he has a friend that goes there) and walked. He walked up to the window at 3:00 pm and bought two tickets in the 200 section, right behind the net the Isles shoot at twice. Tenth row. For $40 he had a great time and was psyched. He texted me throughout the game. He tailgated, bought no food or team items inside, he just went for the game. Damn good deal. Now I know STH have a legit gripe on pricing but if they have deals like this for people like me who go to a select number of games each year, I'm all for it. |

"but I'll stop at the putting an inferior product on the ice thing". It's the inferior product OFF the ice too. It's the WHOLE package not just the team. Getting rid of Trottier, Jankowski, Jaffe and the lousy radio situation has pissed off fans as well as having higher tix prices with the lowest payroll has. Attendance is brutal.

Exactly.Let's see what the record is in April not the 1st week of the season. I haven't parked in the NVMC lot for many years. I always park on the street off Hemp Tpke. because I wanted to stick it to SMG and deny them my money and because I'm a cheap bastid.

I'd usually spend the money I saved on parking on pizza & beer at the place next to Sunoco before the game. That place closed years ago and Papa John's opened where ya gotta get a whole pie. Now, ya can't even get a slice of pizza anywhere around the Dumpiseum. Unreal.

Have you listened to the radio broadcast? There's nothing wrong with it and actually it's better than the TV Simulacast and the signal comes in loud and clear in nassau and all the way to Bay Shore out east. We also get back Chris King's play by play as well as intermission features. & I hear they are having serious attendance woes in Tampa as well -- |

All the way out to Bay Shore? That's less than 20 miles away, not good for a radio station. Kinger is obviously a great radio play-by-play guy, but I was also impressed with the rest of the coverage. |

20 miles is all they are rated for. everyone complained they couldn't hear the game in the parking lot. now you can. you just can't hear it any further than 20 miles. |

Just because that's what they were rated for doesn't mean it's good enough. |
