TSN just released the story of Team Canada's final cuts for the World Junior squad and Casey Cizikas and Calvin De Hann made the team. There was no surprise that De Hann made the team but for Casey....really good. If you look at the list of players that were cut, this was a huge accomplishment for Casey. |

That makes NYI, Florida, TB, and Buffalo the only teams with multiple players on team Canada...and leaves Couturier as the lone undrafted player. From what I read deHaan was a lock, but Cizikas made it without playing in the last scrimmage due to injury (I don't know the extent). Anyone know when team USA is being announced? I know Donovan is too old, but do we have anyone playing for a roster spot on that team? EDIT: Answered my own questions...Brock Nelson (Team USA Olympic pedigree, Uncle, Grandfather, and Great Uncle all USA Gold Medalists) and late next week. |

I'm surprised Nelson is a consideration when he has mostly been mentioned as a raw prospect years away from sniffing the NHL. |

Everyone has raved about Brock Nelson and that was one of the best moves this past draft in moving up to secure him. Thank you Jankowski. |

If Brock Nelson doesn't amount to a hill of poop, he has a career in porn or fighting 1950's aliens with that name. I think he'll be at least a fourth liner on our sinking ocean liner. |

He gets a nickname since he's a fourth liner. The Wrecker was used....stasche....Zeno.... I'm sure if he doesn't produce he can be Brock .

Bryan Trottier has been working w/Cizikas-maybe it would be a better idea to have Bryan work with Tavares and the rest of the Isles? Chris Botta has tons & tons of Islander info. according to other NHL scouts (non-Isles) De Haan has the smarts and ability to be a real good player a top 4 dmen-however they say he isn't a top 50 NHL prospect yet by the way Grudbranson has yet to sign with Florida. I think Snow job should pick up the phone and try to get deal for the rights. maybe Moulsen Wisniewski gets it done? it is worth an effort. |

Bring back...PRIDE OF THE ISLAND
|
I believe grudensenon was happy to be picked by flordia..and I think its common that players don't sign yet..still early I believe..besides, do the islanders really want to trade away their leader goal scorer on the team? and piss off tavares in the process. |

you're talking about Moulson for Grudbranson? what if Moulson walks? then you have nothing. i'll tell you what i'd do it, it's a no brainier. looks like the Isles will have the overall #1 again you have Nieder ready for next year. the Isles can find a better replacement for Moulson & the Isles should have the prospect depth & cap room to get a winger for JT-(Ryder or Cole) |

Florida would never do that. They have full control over Gudbranson for the next 8 years. |

Team Canada forward Casey Cizikas talks about his team's 6-3 victory over Russia in their first game of the 2011 WJC. Unfortunately it's pretty hard to hear the questions asked but Cizikas seems to be a relaxed and confident guy. (despite his history) |
