If the isles get in the top 3, they should select Fowler. I wish he was a little bigger but we need a potential franchise defensemen and have for quite some time. In the word junior final he impressed me by logging big minutes and shutting down Taylor Hall.

I was 50-50 last year that they shouldve drafted Hedman. No regrets and hopefully Tavares will be a prolific scorer some day.

I think the sleeping giant may be Nino Niederreiter. I saw him play a couple of games in the world juniors. He's got size and can score. Plus he looked good on a mediocre at best swiss team. I would love to see the isles trade up for him. Or trade up in general. From what I hear, the 2011 draft isnt looking so good.

I have to go with Taylor Hall. Our top 6 is anything but scary, and we are near the bottom in scoring. This guy has speed which we desperately need, along with his scoring ability.

You gotta figure Taylor Hall will go to Edmonton.

The best we can hope for is 3rd worst. Unless the isles get lucky in the lottery Hall and Seguin figure to be gone.

Wouldn't sleep on Jack Campbell either, if the Isles can deal to somewhere in the mid-teens after their first pick.

Any one of the top three is fine with me. And look, we may actually have our first lucky break in forever. Even if we don't finish dead last we could nail one of the top two picks.

What am I thinking, we're the Islanders and we'll trade down and take another goalie. :P

Born during the 1993 Stanley Cup. How heartbreaking is that?
So, I was bored and started to think about what I want Garth to do if we do find ourselves with the #1 pick at the draft.

After some thinking, I have come to the conclusion that if we happen to acquire the #1 pick again this year, I would actually like to see Garth trade it down to #3.

Before I get assaulted for saying that, let me explain why....

I think most of us would agree that the team needs another real blue-chip defensive prospect (other than Hamonic and de Haan). Saying that, it is also the general consensus that we want Cam Fowler. I am also very confident that neither Carolina nor Boston will pass on the offensive talent available in Seguin/Hall (the projected #1 and #2 on most draft boards). So let's say that we get the #1 pick. We could definitely trade down to #3, get something more out of it, and end up with Fowler in the end. And even if that goes wrong and we don't get Fowler, I wouldn't really complain about getting Seguin/Hall if we got a good little addition from trading down.

Just throwing it out there.

But we'd trade a top pick for a third overall and....a second pick. If we had a person capable of getting a good player via trade, maybe, but this clown knows only picks.

Not a bad idea........but to me, I'd stay right where we are unless we're blown away with a trade offer and select whoever the best player is regardless of position.

Let's face it we need everything.......offensive, defensive.....you name it.
