Pitssburg twice, NJ and tonight against Montreal.....I bet we win all four and lose the tie breaker to Philly. Just a hunch built on nearly twenty years of excellence.
"clearly it's Rick DiPietro's stupidity that's put the islanders in this situation getting into an altercation when a game was over..." Keith Jones on VS

"But the Coliseum became a repository for all the team's troubles, a convenient scapegoat. There were suggestions that no major free agent ever would set foot in such a decrepit place. We have two words for anyone making that argument: Fenway Park. History says free agents would play in an old boxcar if they got enough money and had a chance to win." - Mark Herrmann

Yes but we could've had:

2 Jordan Staal
3 Jonathan Toews
4 Nicklas Backstrom
5 Phil Kessel

Why are the Isles playing with my emotions? Why can't they just lose. I wouldn't be so angry if it was Kyle, Josh and JT lighting it up but Sim and Park? Come on. Let's just get a good pick.

No I in team, but there is an "m,e".

So you want to be :number1: every year in the draft? :dontknow:

I'll take the spoiler route right now (win over da Habs last nite) and try to have some positivity going into the draft and next year.

There are PLENTY kids to chose from.

With our crack staff scouting them, and our slick moving GM, we'll be just fine in the draft.

Absolutely correct.

I've been bashed by a few people questioning why I want the team to lose........and now reality is setting in. If you're gonna suck and miss the playoffs, you better get at least a top 5 pick. And really the lottery balls usually aren't gonna make a difference.

This recent winning streak means squat.

True but that was a much deeper draft than this year. That doesn't happen often.

ah yes, we all knew this year's draft was going to be shallow. but let's face it, Isles ain't getting a top 3 pick. more like a pick from 5 to 7. i admit, i didn't watch any junior hockey (besides world jr.'s) so i'm going off by what i see in stats, tsn, and youtube clips. it may not be a deep draft but you still have some kids that did well in their respective clubs. after the obvious top three, you have the following i would like to see our scouting geniuses to consider:

Brandon Gormley. 6'2, 187 lbs. (D) - projected to go 4th.
Erik Gudbranson. 6'3, 195 lbs. (D) - projected to go 6th.
Derek Forbort. 6'4, 200 lbs. (D) - projected to go 10th.
Nino Niederreiter. 6'1. 205 lbs. (LW) - projected to go 7th.
Alex Burmistrov. 6'0. 170 lbs. C - projected to go 9th.
Jeff Skinner. 5'9. 195 lbs. C - projected to go 11th.

the bold are my top choices.

if we in some miracle find ourselves in a top 3 or 4, that will be amazing. but, i'm just being realistic at this point.

but the rate how the Islanders are building, you also have the 2011 draft to look forward to :bag:

You have to pick high for a few years to get to the top. Look at the Penguins. Do you think their fans moan about a few lean years and number 1 picks?

The flip side is being a consistently mediocre team that battles for an eighth place finish and a playoff spot every year.

Put one of the top 3 (or 5) guys rated in this draft on the Islanders and they can go on all the winning streaks they want - next year.
