We finished 26th and have a 8% chance at #1. |

So let the speculation begin. Should we win #1 overall after lottery. Does Boston offer us something to move up from 3 to 1 if they want Hall or Seguin? This way we have our choice of Fowler or Gudbranson at 3. |

They could drop to as low as 6th. You can only fall back 1 spot and they finished 5th. |

actually, the worst pick we can wind up with is 6th...if a team that finished ahead of us for example the team in the 7th seed wins the lottery, they would move up to pick number 3 therefore shifting everyone behind them back a spot which would move us back to 6th. |

Ok, here are the final draft lottery odds with the 14 teams that failed to make the playoffs. The team winning the lottery can only move up 4 drafting slots, meaning top 5 teams are the only ones with shot at drafting 1st. No team can move down more than 1 slot so our Isles can draft no worse than 6th. I really think this is the year that Garth makes his move to get his man. Even when we end up with the 5th or 6th pick I think this is the year that if he is targeting someone specific in the first 4 picks that he moves up to draft him. He knows this team is close to being a playoff contender and wont have lottery draft picks most likely starting next season. So if he wants to grab a specific blue chipper that he thinks will set us over the top, this is the year he will do it because its easier to move from 5 or 6 to 2 or 3 then it will be to move from a pick at 15-30 in the future. |

Did you watch the draft last year and what he did to get de Haan? |

Yes I did, however i was refering to the fact that I don't think it matters if we win the lottery draft or not because I see Garth moving up to get his guy even if we dont win. Also I was pointing out that its easier to move from 5 up a couple spots then it is to move from 18 to the top 3 which is why I think this will be the year he makes the move. This draft should be more about quality over quantity. |

We certainly gave up alot of quantity last year in the hopes that de Haan has the quality they wanted. I'm not too confident. Snow has shown time and time again that each draft, there'll be one head scratcher. None of us have head lice but come draft time we sure act the part. |

Three trades to get us to 12th, then the picks we accumulate will be sent out for nothing much next year. Rinse. Repeat. I'm hoping for a simple BPA draft this go around. Unfortunately, you have a GM and Head Scout and Owner with small who-who's trying to prove the world wrong with their genius/mysteriousness each year. I say a moderately sized defenseman at spot ten and some picks come our way. We'll blame it on all our desired top four draftees finding homes despite solid picks at 5&6. |

Enjoying the game.

We're gonna come out of the draft a better team. There are few bonehead moves GMG can make at this point to make our standing worse. I think he's just draft the 1st round pick straight up, and maybe use the later round picks to trade & move up. Not a bad plan, probably. |

I agree. I don't believe there's a big enough upside to trading up a couple of spots. In the top 6 guys you have three top-end forwards and three blue-chip D-men. The Islanders will be a better team with any of the 6. |

Imagine how much better and further along Kyle Okposo would have been if Bill Guerin was never traded away after his run in with Gordon. Imagine how much more Okposo would have learned. Maybe even how to STAND UP for a goddamn teammate. Imagine how much more promising these players would be going into next year had they learned team toughness if Snow had brought in more veteran help and an experienced NHL enforcer who could show them the ropes, teach them the tendencies of certain players so they don't have to learn for themselves while picking themselves off the ice. Imagine if we had an owner who gave a crap about the hockey team instead of just talking about it. Imagine all the people...

Islanders can finish 1st (8% likelihood). Ok, understood. But I am a little confused here. Pointblank is saying either 1, 5 or 6. Why isn't it possible we can finish 2, 3 or 4? I always thought that was a possibility until this morning. |
