In case TP can't play? Who wants to bet on that one? I'll take DP sits and give 2-1 he will be suited up in edmonton. Hope he gets a start during this stretch. |

Please, Garth Neige, don't rush this guy. He's the one that I have my hopes pinned on. Don't give him the bum's rush like Milbury did to Eric Fichaud and Roberto Luongo. |

Strange that 2 rookie goalies will be suiting up for a game mid season when Garth Snow told the fans we had 2 #1 goalies at the start of the year in Rolo and TP. Well, I guess now Snow will have more excuses a few weeks from now on tailspin with the goalie situation. |

Poulin for me is looking like the next true number 1 goalie on the Island... Was it Patrick Roy that said he was the best goalie in the Qjmhl last season? |

Yeah, and many said Fichaud was the heir apparent to the great French Canadian butterfly goalies. But when rushed to service, he failed. Now we can watch Poulin get rushed because Snow deemed Rick capable of playing the whole season without his recurring leprosy striking again. Or we can send him down and sign a Flaherty type stopgap and not screw up one of our three hopefully great goalie prospects. |

I think this is the definition of confirmation bias, Eric fiichaud failing has nothing to do with anything. My 5 year old nephew was very good against 5 year olds in soccer so they moved him up to the 8 year olds and he was still very good. |

Yeah? What does that have to do with the development of NHL goaltenders? Everyone knows (but ignores) the fact that goalies take far longer to develop mentally for the NHL game. Some are ready by 19 or 20. Some 23 or 24. Some like Rollie or Thomas much later. But I'll tell Milbury about your nephew. You wanna rush him to see what he can do.....I want to be patient to be sure he can do it. So you get your car fixed by someone going to school for it and I'll be happily going to a more refined and seasoned mechanic. You get your surgery done at the Doogie Howser kid's OR, I'll wait for the post residency guy.

Young surgeons have steadier hands and latest techniques/technology. But I still want Poulin in the minors. |

Old surgeons know how to spot irregularities and address them through experience, keeping the patient alive. Sure the young goalie has better flexibility and more energy, but when you got a kid and a seasoned vet in crunchtime to choose from....one knows a lil better how to keep the game alive. I will say if Poulin is mentally mature and he shows he can keep up, his time is nearing and as DP's backup, he could very well play the 65 games DP's backup would. I just prefer being cautious with such a prized asset. You know, pretend we're the Red Wings or some NHL team for once. |

im confused are you worried about making a stanley cup run or are you worried about this kids development??? If you are worried about the playoffs this year then I got no argument... if you are worried about his development I am not sure there is any evidence other then anecdotal that he is better off developing in the minors as opposed to up here. I say let him play with the big boys he will improve faster. But my nephew is very good at soccer i wasnt lying about that. |

In this organization...does it really matter if he develops in the minors or up here? Do we think Sudsie, is that much better than anyone else on the Bridge to learn from? Exactly how much ice is found in India that he would know over a N.A. coach? Was that too harsh? On the record, I would rather him develop in the minors where the competition isn't as good and possibly ruin his confidence. And when we talk of Fichaud I assume his skills didn't diminish...but maybe his confidence did? |

oth, love ya man but please no remote joking on anyone's family. I know that was mild just want to make sure the debate stays on hockey. As for Poulin, I agree with those that suggest that he should stay down at the Bridge. He goofed around in Jr's almost pulling a Corey Trivino and his draft stock went down. Since he's re-focused his career and worked so hard...I don't want anything to come easy for him now (not the best term). He needs to appreciate all the hard work and we may just have the goalie who could stay healthy and turn into something special but that's getting way ahead of things. |

Jackace caught it. So many fans want to see the kids..."they've done all they could do in the minors" is the battle cry I heard every time someone was rushed up. When is a kid mentally strong enough, though? Not important, and Jackace caught it: Fichaud was not anything but exceptional with his body; he was not ready in his mind. And goalies NEED that inner beast developed slow and carefully. Brodeur is an odd one (he's normal) but most other goalies are headcases who you can't throw to the wolves, rush into duty and plug and play them like Papineau, Mapletoft or other kids who we were patient with (oh, wait). Gamble on him, we lose him. Gamble on the AHL being a more adequte place to avoid pressure and he'll tell us loud and clear when he's ready. If it's 24 and he's a Vezina candidate, how much would that suck? "im confused are you worried about making a stanley cup run or are you worried about this kids development??? " When I was growing up, there was no difference. The better you did with one, the better you did with the other. |

well i thought we were talking about what is best for the kid to develop, especially because winning the cup this year looks like a mildly difficult task. I would submit that everybody is individual, some people benefit being rushed and playign against better competition and some people fold because there confidence gets squashed. Its specific to the player. Unless you know this kid personally and by that i mean played hockey with him everyday I am not sure how you can have a strong opinion on the matter. If you were talking about him ruining our chances to make the stanley cup this year, well then I think you need to go speak to somebody about the difference between fantasy and reality. I am glad he is up as long as he plays. I think it is just as likely that calling him up benefits him as it is that it hurts him. and frankly i want a goalie that can has his confidence shaken and can bounce back. I was/am a goalie and I always improved much more playing with players above my level even if they kicked my ass. But that is just me. |

He played solid last night. Some balls by Capuano to pull Lawson in the first 5 minutes. It worked too, as Poulin let in none, just wish we could've scored more than 1 goal. |

Good to see a goalie go down and automatically back up again quickly. The kid had good positioning as well and had all the angles covered. He even showed DP how to roam from net and make a safe play. Looks like the real deal so far, but I hope he changes his number. The more I see of Capuano, the more I like. |
