He played solid last night.  Some balls by Capuano to pull Lawson in the first 5 minutes.  It worked too, as Poulin let in none, just wish we could've scored more than 1 goal.

Good to see a goalie go down and automatically back up again quickly. The kid had good positioning as well and had all the angles covered. He even showed DP how to roam from net and make a safe play. Looks like the real deal so far, but I hope he changes his number.

The more I see of Capuano, the more I like.

I agree as well. It is very early, but you can see that he has his own way of doing things. Interesting part will be how he reacts (or responds) to trying to build something with very little support.

Not bad so far though.

He had Trevor Gillies out on the power play last night. Trevor. Gillies.

Capuano's line matching is beyond horrible.

This is what always happens with us.
We forget history.

Everytime the team gets some wins, we look at the stats and jump to conclusions.
Is Capuano doing a good job?

The team has gone 7-2-1. Most of that on Roloson's goaltending while being peppered with 40+ shots a night. Outplayed...but we've edged out teams.

Last night the movement on the powerplay was non existent making it easy for Oilers box to defend and keep shots to the outside and prevent us from rebounds.

No doubt Gilles, Konopka, Martin were out there that one shift as a message to the other PP.
He sent a message. The bigger message I see is that he is inexperienced and I'd rather rebuild with an experienced NHL coach, not an interim who's been benefiting from solid goaltending the last 3 weeks. Soemthing to think about before our fickle minds rethink in the middle of next losing streak before they win a few only to fall back and lose a bunch more.

I like 39....Poulin can wear it as soon as he can get it (hopefully by year's end). :yea:

Same take on Capuano: there are FAR better coached out there so we have to grab them.

Notice how masterfully the Oilers used their sticks to trap every pass? How they caused so many turnovers and how their positioning was so hard to overcome?

And the line combos....ugh.

Cappy is keeping a spot warm for a week for any other team. With us, Snow is praying the Kool Aid flows and he won't have to hire someone better at his job than he is. :disgraced:

Keeping Capuano would be like having two AHL goalies on the active roster....

...or not signing NHL experienced substitutes when two of your key players go down early in the season with long term injuries.

I expect an announcement clarifying the coaching situation in February (Groundhog Day).

He'll have Trottier's old job. Wang ain't gonna add salaries, he's got a new sink to pay for next year. 2013, we're getting a scale at the Coliseum, maybe a new TP holder if we draw enough fans! :torrey:

Wang, flustered, yells out, "why can't they just use the nail?"

I just want to say with regards to the Oilers game... I personally think we outplayed them massively, Moulson had so many chances to score in the 1st two periods and we should have won that game... I don't care who says what.

But on the whole, as inexpierienced as Capuano is, I really do feel more comfortable with him behind the bench, with regards to our overall play, theres more dump and chase than run and gun, more sensible puck decisions, and less "individual errors" and overall i feel it suits the majority of our players...

Anyroad, this is a Kevin Poulin thread, and as i said earlier, I truly think this kid will be the future of the Isles, so long as management keep him around, his positioning is tip top, and his reactions tonight against the Av's were lightening quick, again, i feel he is the future in net and I'm glad he is getting a couple of opputunities in net to show the Isles faithful what he can do, i just hope they don't over work the kid before he's ready!

Bit of a ramble... few too many beers, but who cares! :D

I feel far more comfortable with Cappy as well, but that could be because Gordon sucks moose wieners. I mean he is awful. Spiteful, arrogant, clueless and inept.....just don't blame the system. :yea:

When we get a better coach or whatever, I wish he would have our guys for drills play keepaway and practice in order to achiever masterful puck domination like the Avs had. Just guys passing, moving, creating, keeping that puck like they were Soviets.

I said this in an earlier post somewhere, the recent better play is not so much a reflection that Capuano is a great coach, it just shows just how terrible Gordon was for this team.

or perhaps it has nothing to do with either man...perhaps its just a reflection of teams from the west not knowing much about the islanders..taking them for granted...

I love how the team is playing now..confidence and all..but, they still have alot to learn..they are finding ways to win, and how to win with a lead...what to do etc..as butch goring says...

I think it's demons. Evil ones. It took a Roman Cat'lic priest to remove Gordon....but now Tavares is wielding unholy magic.

Or you two are both right.
