perhaps its just a reflection of teams from the west not knowing much about the islanders

VERY WELL COULD BE
CAUSE RECENT YEARS THEY SEEM TO PLAY WELL AGAINST THE WEST
THEN THEY RETURN TO REGULAR PROGRAMMING

Pretty good read on Poulin situation by Botta in his latest entry.
Nothing earth shattering, but I like how he identified Poulin as the franchises top goalie prospect.

Not the first time I've read that but it just feels good knowing this kid showed something
while called up.

Hope he gets the start tonight. This is a very winnable game and he gives us the best chance.
I sold it all, retired and moved to Fabulous Las Vegas!

-- Rick DiPietro (groin) skated this morning on his own. Said Capuano: "We're not going to rush him, but he's not feeling much better." When asked if he may play  Saturday, Capuano gave a lukewarm "it's possible."

I'm glad that TP is not a Capuano guy, not a bridgeporter, as he has no sentimental attachment to the Rick. Poulin is Cappy's guy and I hope he continues to give him every opportunity to become #1, regardless of the readiness of Mr. 15yr

And per Botta, he's not to be rushed. I hope Snow knows this and they send Poulin down for the two weeks Rick pretends to be healthy.

Webby, Agree; 4Cupz, you're awesome; sybo, his hip can't have puppies anyway.....and Elvis is still dead.

I think it's demons. Evil ones. It took a Roman Cat'lic priest to remove Gordon....but now Tavares is wielding unholy magic.

Or you two are both right.

Too wordy for an in-game chant?

This is funny.....

The guy that was going to "surprise" us was exposed to waivers today in order to be sent to BPT. I assume Poulin is ahead on the depth chart now.

In the words of Bart Scott, he "couldn't stop a nose bleed".

I don't think he had to go through waivers...possibly because his first call-up was on an emergency basis, bit I'm not sure.

He does suck though :yea:

You can see the talent that Poulin has. He is tall and can cover up a lot of the net. He has great agility and quickness. His lateral movement is very good. He seems to be able to follow the puck through traffic very well. He's got a quick glove and quick reflexes. He seems to always be in great position. However, he still needs a lot of "fine tuning".

His rebound control needs improvement (typical for a young goaltender). He also has let up a few very bad goals (again, typical for a young goaltender). Has a tendency to flop on occasion as well.

Overall, I love the raw talent I see from Poulin. He definitely needs a lot of seasoning though. Playing goal in the NHL isn't about raw talent. It's about being in great position and controlling rebounds. You have to be consistent. Easier said than done, I know. This kid should be in Bridgeport. Getting pelted with 40 shots a game in the NHL isn't a benefit to him. Its great that we got to see a glimpse of what he can do, but they should do the RIGHT thing and send him back to Bridgeport and try to bring in a veteran backup. Lawson is TERRIBLE.
