Well, no one wants to think he's done, but he's gambling his ability to walk later in life on this. TWO scopes on one knee, a nagging hip injury that won't go away are bad....but his legs got opposing injuries from favoring the other and hurting the favored leg. Someone who has had a LT injury knows the pain/strain.

I seriously think he's going to come to the realization that his days are numbered if someone not employed by the wonger tells him what he's risking.

Exactly. He has to make a personal decision on whether he wants to have a normal physical life later on. Because it's obvious on every stretch or any hint of a bump around the net, he's going to be in trouble. I could care less about the haters on this board. They have their own personal issues. :P Hopefully, he's wise enough and maybe his dad will talk to him about what is smart. I cringe everytime he's run over in the crease. Let's face, we got a bunch of inept defensemen, who have NO physical presence out there. He's more likely to get hurt with this group anyway.

No one is walking away from that contract. Something bad will need to happen to give DP no choice and have the decision made for him. The size of the guaranteed $$, and the competitive nature of professional athletes would, I assume dictate his future.

Posted Image

Why does anyone think he'd have to walk away from the contract if he retired due to injury? If a dr. says he's done, he gets to keep the money. It is a guaranteed contract.

So if DP does retire due to injury, what do we care if he gets it? Its Wangs money and he hasn't exactly spent it lately or wisely.

I for one dont care if he gets the money or not. I dont see DP going to a Dr. to see if he needs to call it quits. This guy's competitive spirit will probably get in the way of him making that choice. I for one cant see him accepting a 1st, 2nd, or even 3rd opinion to end his career if he thinks he still can play regardless of what the Drs say...unless he goes through a tragic experience, which would make his mind up for him.

Would it be out of the realm of possibilities to see him a try a comeback 2 or 3 years after he is medically cleared to retire? And of course Snow would grant him a spot in training camp.

But you are right...he signed a contract that is guaranteed and gave everything to honor it through rehab, etc...he would deserve the $$.

Roli pitched a shutout tonight against the Caps, an overtime winner. LOL.

With his :isles: mask on. Wearing Billy Smith's #31. And the game winner scored by his son's favorite player ---- St.Louis.

It really doesn't get any better then that.

are we speaking of the same Roloson who at this time has given up 3 goals on 7 shots to the Pens before the end of the 1st period and was yanked? Get over him he was not the long term answer for this mess we call the New York Islanders. :disgraced:

Yeah, he's the one. The guy better than Rick ever will be. That guy.

Ideally we would have traded Rick to the Detroit Tigers for a draft pick we'll never see (Rosen's cousin) and had Rollis spend two years mentoring Poulin like Smitty did for Hrudey.

As of now, I don't want Poulin even talking to Rick. :D

Fact? He was solid to great a game or two, gambled and was shaky for two games and then stunk two games. Rinse. Repeat. The defense bailed him out countless times, he bailed our team out those early games in the daisy chain.

Want to watch the games again? How many blown leads during his best year? There were quite a few. But his best year, he won those games. The fannies of his take one sampling, his best year which we trapped, and make it out like he'd done it his entire career. No, he did not.

History will show he was downright awful with bad habits, played more and improved his stats, almost eliminated his bad habits early one year and was solid (with the same streakiness) but as he got too cozy, he started making those same glaring errors.

But at no time was he best in the game for any long stretch.

So what FACT am I acknowledging?

I acknowledge one fact: he still has the bestest fannies on the planet backing him.

Or are you one of those guys who compared him to Brodeur when someone made the stickhandling comment? That was when everyone said "DP's as good as Brodeur, see?" if you recall.

Pens crushed the Bolts yesterday...Roli got yanked TWICE..ouch.

5 goals in the 1st (3 on Roli and 2 on Ellis)
2 goals in the second on Roli (they put him back in)
Ellis played the 3rd

...weird game

Dopeyatro ONLY made that all star game in 08 as a reserve because they had to pick someone from our god forsaken team.
Didn't Marty get hurt allowing TP to play, goof around, get hurt and curse on national tv while being miked?

I'd take a 41 year old Roloson on this team this year JUST for his guidance to the few good kids
worth anything on this team over rickety.
That's not hatred talking, that's reality. I wish TP well, but when you're out of the lineup as predictably unpredictably as often as he is, it provides a terrible environment for developing players. And we have a hard enough time doing that as it is.

He was a good goalie for a couple of years until he got hurt. Did he deserve a long term contract? IMO, no. But blame Wang. He deserved the all star nod. Stop revising history. I know there's hatred here, envy by some he's got a nice contract. But please, enough. Some need a chill pill.

Let's see, over the years...TP has shared the pipe duties with:
Chris Terreri
John Vanbiesbrouck
Wade Flaherty
Garth Snow
Chris Osgood
Wade Dubielewicz
Mike Dunham
Joey MacDonald
Yann Danis
Peter Mannino
Dwayne Roloson
Martin Biron

with the exception of 2-3...I'd take any one of those goalies at their stage of their careers parallel to TP's now
over TP.

I wish TP would go into a deep chill. Then thaw him out when his contract expires and send him on his way. He needs to retire so we can move forward. Wait, but then there's the Wang thingy and all the other...

nevermind this post.
