Dopeyatro ONLY made that all star game in 08 as a reserve because they had to pick someone from our god forsaken team.

He was a good goalie for a couple of years until he got hurt. Did he deserve a long term contract? IMO, no. But blame Wang. He deserved the all star nod. Stop revising history.

Steve is actually 100% correct Shooter. That was the first year the NHL decided someone from every team had to be included as an All Star. Rick was a reserve who only got in the game because Brodeur elected to rest instead of attending....there may have been another goalie from the East who passed as well (Miller?).

Gotta give Rick credit for one thing though....he gets talked about every single day in every single thread, every single year....healthy or not...

It was Miller and Brodeur, yes. DP was choice #5.

They named him starter afterwards.

Just like he's Britney Spears. :yea:
"clearly it's Rick DiPietro's stupidity that's put the islanders in this situation getting into an altercation when a game was over..." Keith Jones on VS

"But the Coliseum became a repository for all the team's troubles, a convenient scapegoat. There were suggestions that no major free agent ever would set foot in such a decrepit place. We have two words for anyone making that argument: Fenway Park. History says free agents would play in an old boxcar if they got enough money and had a chance to win." - Mark Herrmann

2.25 GAA with Bolts vs 2.64 with Isles.
Save percentage is the same .920
but Rolo has 3 shutouts in 10 games with Bolts.

At least we got a declining prospect defenseman who by all means is a turnover machine.

Yep, the ever injured, oft excuse needing 15 year guy, the 27 year old "he'll surprise" you
career minor leaguer and rushing a rising prospect combined with a waiver embarrassment
declining to report was well worth the trade for THAT asset.

Bravo Garth Snow.

:applaud:

Steve Yzerman in less than 1 year as GM has accomplished more than mr. "uhhhh".

You can call me Joe.
The building made Snow make that trade.
Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.

Roloson a few short minutes away form his 4th shutout in 11 games with Tampa Bay as they lead the Flyers 4-0.
Flyers heavily outshooting Bolts too.
Over 40 shots against.

Congrats to him.

Yep.

Add another year to Snow's job security. "Rebuilds take time....."

During the next month when guys on our team are playing for jobs
(meaning they're MORE inclined to do the fundamentals)

and playoff race teams are feeling the pressure from much needed points
(meaning they're more likely to have elite players trying to so too much)

it could lead to a nice little .500 or better yet win streak for us.

I fully expect Garth to extend Capuano and remove the interim during that time.

Garth has had his worst year as GM this year. So glad Roloson is in a better place.

Is there really any doubt that Capuano will be back...it would take a miracle to bring in a real coach.

Rollie died?

Or got traded.....funny how both now sound better than being Islanders.
