Trent Hunter done for the season

As per Yahoo....
Quote:

RW Trent Hunter had resumed skating and appeared to be closing in on a return for the first time since injuring his knee in late November. But the Islanders announced Tuesday that the veteran winger will undergo season-ending surgery to repair a torn MCL in his left knee.

"I was hoping to have Trent (back), so this news isn't good, but it allows him to get the medical attention he needs and get back in time for training camp next year," said interim coach Jack Capuano said.
I sold it all, retired and moved to Fabulous Las Vegas!

He was trying to rehab it but no dice.

GOOD team doctors would have steered in the right direction 2 months ago before rehabbing it.
Same ones who declared DP medically cleared.

Are they mentally cleared to practice medicine?

If he had the surgery in Nov he'd probably be skating by now. But even with our depleted lineup I don't miss him, although Jeremy Colliton made it close.

Where's the poster with info on our improved training staff and excellent hockey operations? Anyone? Anyone?

I forgot that Trent was actually in the league. Do I miss a very old looking, slow skating guy that doesn't hit and can't put the puck in the ocean off a pier? Nope.

He had his days here and while he was average at best we should say "thanks" and move on.

I miss the 03-04 version of Trent Hunter!
Chris Botta: Ray, how come you are so critical of the Islanders?

Ray Ferraro: Because they the last time they won a playoff series, I passed the puck to David Volek!

During the games he played, he actually led our team in hits for that period.

...and it shows now. He's falling apart, even without the knee injury.

I agree.

I still have a great deal of respect for him because he was a team guy.
Always put the team before himself and even with his limited mobility
he went all out. Don't know if he'd be anything more than a liability at this point
with the injuries.

Agree. Definitely a great guy, a great example. Just doesn't have the ponies anymore.

With how young and how fast this team has gotten there is no place for Trent. It's not like he's skating with Sillinger, Yashin, Koslov, Satan, or basically anyone from that team not named Blake, where his lack of speed wasn't an issue.

The NHL game now isn't suited for Trent......especially coming off a major injury. I liked him, he was reliable like an old Ford or Chevy you hate to give up....but once the transmission goes, its time for a newer car.
