I used to do these threads routinely a few years ago when the team was better. I did one after the game Friday and it really got a lot of chatter going. For the sake of the current excitement of the team and for good luck, I'll do one for today's great win.

Lots to talk about, but Grabner is showing a gamebreaking ability we haven't had here since Palffy. He's playing absolutely unreal hockey. How the hell was his first shift 2:30 into OT? Why isn't he getting PP time? Is he a legitimate superstar in the making or is this just a career year?

yes..thankyou for doing these threads..we need some more excitment....and yeah..grabner should've started ot or atleast 2nd line on..I know I wasn't the only one screaming for him to come on...

a few games ago they finally had bailey on the pp with tavares, no more..why not grabner..capanua is so happy with his overall game and yet you don't reward the guy with pp time..although, now that I recall, I think he was used a few times, not in this game, on the point..but, I think that was before kyle came back..this kid really is a joy to watch..

already closing in on 30 goals...I won't laugh, but its a slim chance for 40..but possible...streit, moulson, grabner...nice finds indeed..

I want to come out to next game and support the team..but, beings how they seem to lose when I do, I just prefer to stay home and watch..no sense jinxing right? :yea:

Will there be a suspension for the Sabre who leaped to hit Hamonic with his elbow?

Where was the penalty shot for Neilsen when his arm was tugged on the breakaway?

Where was the penalty for the Sabre who punched Kyle O in the face?

The officials are bad, but the league will not punish Buffalo. Watch.

They didn't award a penalty shot, but the player did get two 2 minute minors on the play...one for each hook committed.

Kotalik was the player who took the elbow to Hamonic's head. IF the league doesn't suspend that, then we go right back to the goon network. Seriously...didn't Colin in his suspension comments say something about "targeting the head"...well he deliberately left his feet to hit Hamonic in the head.

Garth needs to send the tape to the league office with a note quoting Colin and say..."we are waiting..."

As for the game, why would we keep a player as hot and as fast as Grabner on the bench so long in OT when there is so much ice in a 4v4 situation? It is perfect for him.

He certainly is hot the past month. No way he keeps this up, but it is fun to watch Grabner go nuts like this. I think he has the potential to be a Bob Bourne type player just from his speed alone. Don't see him as a consistent all-star or 40 goal scorer. I think teams will soon start tying focus on trying defend his speed, but this kids should be a consistent 25-30 scorer I hope.
I miss these :cup: :cup: :cup: :cup: and want more of them

Montoya can't catch and can't cover a puck. Holy crap. He isn't worth a 60th round pick.

No reason why he shouldn't be on the PP. I understand that maybe he can't control the puck well enough to play along the walls. If that's the case, he should be plopped right in front of the net. His speed caused the two-man advantage that swung the game. Him just simply being on the ice draws attention away from others. Makes no sense to me why there was one PP when both Konopka and Haley got icetime and Grabner didn't. It's totally asinine.

If Grabner is even or past someone, noone can catch him in the NHL. He's that fast.

It's unreal.

He has the potential to be better than Gaborik if he can work on his hands a little bit.
This guy has the makings of the next NHL superstar

It's unreal.

It's not just enough being impressed with the foot speed Vinny,
how many times have we seen him have his stick tied up momentarily
but he manages to kick the puck ahead without breaking stride.

The effort is always there and so have been the results.

I noticed that he always looks for the seam and then exploits it with his speed. Goring mentioned it too. he can be very good, if not great.

They were just saying on NHL Network that there are a few players that have similar speed, but can't piece it together to put it to good use like Grabner seems to be doing: finding seams, knowing when to use it, etc. He's doing all of those things. One important thing they also said on NHL Network was that he's not using his speed 100% of every shift. He turns it on when the situation dictates it. His hands are catching up to his speed. It's amazing to watch what he does. Amazing.

We had a player like that, who's hands caught up with his feet, and ended up scoring 40 in a season ;)

Best not mention his name though :D

And Sabre hearings or suspensions announced yet today? No?
I guess the league continues to be a mockery of itself...

about those plays..kaletta first hit tavares along the boards, clean hit I believe...then later on hit hamonic with the elbow to the head..what I want to know is why didn't any of the Islanders during the game do something about it? Was it not the right moment? Did they not see it clearly? I thought they were tired of players taking liberty with their own, and they were going to defend each other? Well I didn't see lastnight..someone will have to explain that one to me..cause otherwise I see what happen friday night, only one game...the idea of defending each other shouldn't be boiled up and then releassed into one game..it should be done at the moment of occurrence..Yes, proud of the effort in the win, considering their goalies weren't too good lastnight, but then again, no one was that good except maybe the two hattys by both players..I'm torn on this..

3, Kaleta f#@ked up. He found Hamonic at the end of the first. Hamonic said we're gonna go. Watch Kaleta shake his hand at him.

Kaleta told him "I've got a broken hand. Can't dance."

So Hammer slashed him on the hand.

I'm talking about supplementary punishment... didn't Gillies just get 10 games for a hit to the head the very same day? Cooke a couple days ago? The point I am making is that this team's actions (IMO) on friday were a result of all the liberties, cheapshots, and no-calls that happen almost every game.

....and here we are the very next game....the same day Colin makes a statement disparaging the Isles and headshots in general, and one of our guys takes a hard elbow to the head....and the league isn't even gonna look at it. :puke:

speaking of the Gillies suspension....wasn't this his 1st? Why the efff is it 10 games? OH....he's an islander AND must be made an example of right?
