On 2 separate occasions before faceoff he called out the league for having one set of rules for the elite teams and having another set of rules for the Islanders. Well done Howie. The players pushed back; now its nice to see our announcers push back. Garth your next...grow a pair and call out Colon Campbell and his bufoonary. Your the man Howie! Not that I particularly care. LOL

Exactly. Someone like Howie, who is well respected in broadcasting, calling out this hilarious of a figure in Colon Campbell, is needed some more. It's time to remove this clown.

For all you guys bitchin about Howie as far as I'm concerned he's better than about 70% of the announcers out there.

Howie has taken a lot of criticism for being a Ranger fan (actually true but he never shows it during broadcasts) and other things through the years. His little mistake earlier this year when he thought he was off the air certainly didn't help his cause. However, I can't imagine how difficult it's been for him having to broadcast mostly losing teams over the years. Tough to get excited about this team most seasons. The few times there has been reason to get excited about the Islanders, he's always very vocal about giving them great PR on both the broadcasts and on WFAN. As we know, Howie has a lot of friends left at WFAN and when he talks they listen. One specific thing I'll never forget was in 2007 when they were making their "miracle" run to the playoffs he was on WFAN and he was very vocal in saying how great a story this was and how it needed to get the attention it deserved from the NY media. He was so passionate about it. While its hard to believe, there aren't many people out there who want to see this organization do well more than Howie (excluding the fans, obviously). While I know he'll never be #1 in any Isles fan's heart (Jiggs holds that spot), and I also know that once Rosen retires he'll probably get the Ranger job (and who could blame him for taking it), I've always liked Howie. |

I think Howie is outstanding. He is underappreciated. Yea he would rather do the Mets but WTFC. He is a professional and not a friggin whiner and tool like so many other teams employ. Sabres, Wash, and of course Pitts come to mind for listenable announcers. |

Howie in the 3rd wondering why Blysma got a pass for not controlling his players despite Goddard going over the boards. Then they show the interview of Snow stating he is willing to bend over and take it and say thank you to Colon and Gary. F U Snow. Crappy goalie. Crappy GM. And don't take credit for Grabner. Any one of us would have picked him up. No brainer. You can take credit for Montoya. That one is all you. |

Snow should go back to his parties. He has no role as a GM.

I agree. I have always liked the way Rose calls a game. He told it like it is today and kudos for that!!!

I'm just curious why Howie is such a hero all of a sudden? If, as some claimed, he's just Wang's mouthpiece, then isn't he just saying what Wang wants him to say in this case? I've never thought Howie was very good at hockey and I applaud his comments. But I think those who wanted to can the guy for his comments during the ATL game need to wake up. He's not a mouthpiece. He's a professional broadcaster who is far better at baseball than hockey. And he got it right in this case. |

I've never had a problem with Howie and defended him for his slap at having to watch the rotten hockey. He spoke honestly and it was refreshing. |

Anybody heard what Mario said dear god, he said something to effect that if hockey was like all of the events that happened on Friday, he would not have been a part of it in the 1st place. This is proof that Penguins fans are whiny bitches. Even the owner cries and whines. |

I didn't want his head for the ATL screw up and I'm fine with what he said today. I want announcers to speak their mind and not be "blow smoke up my ass "yes" men" like they have in Buffalo and Boston and Pittsburgh. I just find it amusing that SOME of those who wanted him nailed to a cross a few months back now think he can suddenly walk on water. |
