I applaud Howie for what he said both before the game and in the third period. What bothers me is that this is EXACTLY what Snow should have said. Only louder. With some $%&@#$ thrown in for effect. But he didn't. That sissy. |

Snow tried to subtly say the Penguins should have gotten more but instead he just made himself sound like an idiot. He should just speak bluntly. Milbury was a nightmare, but at the very, very least he'd shoot from his hip in the media. |

Yea Milbury would have defended his team. No doubt. Garth is a complete bafoon. He is a interviewing nightmare and does not stand by his team. He is not interested in protecting the NY Islanders. He must be shooting for a league job after he gets canned cause he won't get another GM job. |

He's gotta make up for that "spring training" comment. But I like that he stuck up for the team and calling the NHL out. He is 110% correct! Just sucks that the Manager of the team doesnt come out in the same way. |
| After a narrow victory in 1994, Boston Bruins defenseman Al Iafrate was asked why, in the closing moments of the game, he had fired the puck around the boards rather than into the empty net. His reply? "Empty-net goals are for faggots" | |

I believe the columnist from the Post took a shot at Mario. Greenberg? I was skimming through the papers and he said Mario wasn't happy every Islander was given a lifetime suspension and was going to take his toys and go home. |

Guys...what was Garth supposed to do? The league already cracked down HEAVILY on LA GM Dean Lombardi for his comments earlier in the year. And keep in mind that Garth still has to have a working relationship with some of these people in the league. I do find it funny that sooo many people are critical of Garth for not taking a swipe at Mario or the league office, but when he told the head coach of Minnesota to stfu a few seasons back Garth was wrong. Can't have it both ways people. In one instance he vocally defends his organization and he's a jerk according to some (not me). In the other, when there is little go be gained by blasting Mario and the league, he's not doing enough...despite the fact that now there are those already in the media and Isles players (Konopka) who are yapping about the comedy that is Mario's and the league's position. Can never win I guess. |

Bring back...PRIDE OF THE ISLAND
|
I see where you going..and I think in a way..garth did come out in disagreement with the league, like snowman said, but subtle...I have to admit I was upset that garth didn't say more..but sitting back and thinking, I have to believe that he would've just been hit harder..He can't win with the league mario on the other hand, well its okay for him to say whatever.. zenon..I am so proud of him for speaking out and speaking up for not only his teammates, but the organization. This is someone you want on your team..I won't be outrageous I4cups, and say big years. I don't want to get yelled at here..but he should be signed to an extension...and correct me if I'm wrong, but don't capts do this sort of thing, speaking to the media and what not? Again, thats up to the players to decide on their next capt..but he should have some role as capt or alt capt..or am I getting ahead of myself.. I can't help it..the last few days, I have been just giddy over my team..so use to bashing the team, now I feel good what the team did the other night. and everyone is against them. It just makes me sick to my stomach. I hope the team feels some sort of same way. And uses this as extra motivation, for balance of this year, and the future..(ofcourse I will try and contain my emtions and not get too carried away, don't want the team letting me down). and shooter..that colluminist post..too funny..please someone post a link if they can..trying to find it..can't. |

Glad you find it funny but Garth was wrong for what he did with Minnesota coach. The way he handled that was a disgrace. He is right in this case by keeping quiet because he doesn't want to piss off Wang by earning anymore fines. He's not a jerk, he's a asshole and that's just for starters. Lastly if anyone in this thread wants to have it both ways, feel free. Say whatever you want. |

Agree that Konopka should be resigned. He should have gotten Jon Sims original contract from us, because he's doing what Jon Sims was signed here to do. I can see giving him a 2 year deal at 900K-1mill per. He's a terrific faceoff guy. Has some skill at both ends, solid defensively, shows leadership and stands up for teammates and can be an effective aggitator. I'll take that on my 4th line all day long. But not on lines 1-3 unless we have a key faceoff in our end. |

as I feebley attempted to do with you serious question--- Do you think a message gets sent to Ottawa, especially Alfreddson, for messing with Tavares last time we played? Won't be surprised to see someone drop the gloves with him or the clown who threw punches at Tavares. Also won't be surprised if someone runs that goalie. Don't think that will be a "goal" of the game, but if the situation presents itself, I won't be surprised to see someone look to get payback in a slightly cleaner way. |

I honestly don't know. What Jerry pointed out has me thinking. (the whole Wang anti-violence thing form Botta's blog) You know, you cannot control players emotions during the course of the game. That is a team that we can beat and I hope for anything less than a letdown after such a great comeback in Buffalo.

Rose is a tool. He was a tool when he particularly didn't care and he's a tool now for thinking Friday "restored Islander pride". That clown Carlin or someone said Friday was the greatest game or reg season game in franchise history? Please. What about Bossy's 50 in 50? Or when they beat Colorado to set the all time winning streak of 15 games or so. Beat Chico too. Or so many others. Like you, my chest was extended Friday and I was standing in front of my TV saying how great this was. But like Botta said, it's overrated. Make the playoffs and win a round and we'll talk. Be consistent. Friday was great. Keep it in perspective. Friday WAS nice but not the bee's knees. The only thing that will bring ultimate cheer is if they announce NYI is staying in the NY metro area not that they just beat and humiliated Pitt. Nothing else matters really. (Yup Bylsma should've paid like NYI did.) This fanbase is so desperate for something that Rose's words reached some. My ass. He's still the same fake enthusiasm for a paycheck loser he always was. Any Captain Obvious can preach how NYI is abused and how the better teams get preferential treatment and that Colin Campbell is a joke. And I'm consistent and awake. Just don't like the guy. |
| John Tavares was 2 years old the last time NYI won a playoff series | |

Snow should go back to his parties. He has no role as a GM.
