It's because of how poorly run our org is, our meddling owner in hockey affairs, and our longtime track record of losing. But they will tell you it's the building.

It's the building's fault -- the building actually conducted the poll and used a faulty survey methodology, skewing the results....

The building also lobbied hard for Trevor Gillies. Gillies hugs the building every time he cashes his check. The building vibrates when he does.

The list is almost directly linked with winning and losing.

"It seems pretty apparent from the outside that what he's trying to do, given that he doesn't have much of a revenue-generating machine, is to live at the bottom of the NHL heap and try not to invest money in the club," said Andrew Zimbalist, a sports economics professor at Smith College in Massachusetts.

He must've not gotten Garth's memo that there are no financial restrictions here.

 :P

Town Supervisor Kate Murray, while saying she too wanted the Islanders to stay on Long Island, supported a dramatically scaled-down vision for the site when the town released its own study on the property.

Here's a quarter Kate, buy a goat. Right Pa and Ma from Mayberry RFD.

Anyone else catch the reference to saving money by having sheep graze instead of paying landscapers in "Parks & Recreation"?

Kate is a trendsetter! Maybe TOH can squeeze a couple of bucks out of NBC for a consulting credit....

The government said what could be done. Wang can now do it. Sucks that Nassau's corrupt GOP and Dems alike ended up screwing us fans, taxpayers and so on.....but with he schools what they are, the roads what they are, the economy what it is....Wang chose not to go by what the area and businesses and people could support.

A big project not nearly big enough.

Nothing will happen in Nassau. Queens looks shot. I thought Brooklyn and the Barclays center was a real chance for the isles. But it looks like the arena cant house hockey cause its too small. It doesnt look good.

Everyday I log on my cpu hoping to here news that the ball is rolling somewhere in the NY area and that the isles will be saved. But over the last 3 months ive begun to lose hope.

I think the New York Islanders have little to no shot of being here beyond 2015 :(

A few weeks ago Alan Hahn (our hero) was on PB talking with CB over the phone. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to disagree with anyone,,,,,
BUT,,,,,he said that the arena was so bad ten years ago that the only way a player would come here was by a trade. FAs would laugh about coming here.
So like it or not there must be some truth about the damn place.

With what has happened with Wilpon and the Mets and all of Nassau's fiscal problems I think it's safe to say that the Islanders as we know them will be no more in 2016. Just enjoy them now as they mature into a good team and worry about whether to stick with them as the Quebec whoevers when that time comes. It would be the suckiest irony to see them move to Quebec and win the Cup the same way the Avalanche won the year after moving from Quebec.

I wish there was a trickle of hope but it's looking more and more like Chuckie is just riding it out until the lease expires. I don't blame this totally on him and I don't want to hear one single Nassau County or Town of Hempstead politician crying and saying they didn't want this. They dragged Wang through years of studies and meetings and delays only to turn him down in the end. They could have turned him down flat out years ago and maybe we could have gotten something else done somewhere in Nassau or Suffolk before the economy tanked. Now neither the state counties or towns are gonna approve anything that involves any tax payer moneys.

They are dying for a team in Quebec as well as Winnipeg and their dollar value has caught up to ours and the fans there are willing to ante up with some tax money for new arenas. The perfect storm at the wrong time for us Islanders fans. So get ready to root for the Quebec or Winnipeg whoevers or to pick a new team to root for. I will wait until it happens before I cross that road. I don't even know if I am capable of rooting for anything other than that Islanders crest.

Or he'll extend the current lease he's making money on. Maybe five years if he wants to play hardball later for his Wangland, or fifteen if he's given up on Wangland. The current lease makes him money. Imagine if the State were to put the earmarked money into renovating the place that they're supposed to be doing with said money? Wang would be a fool to not sign immediately if they gave him the same terms.

Maybe he'd hire real talent if he knew playoff revenue would line his pockets even moreso? (doubt it....the old lease guaranteed he's make the best money with the playoffs and he still acted like a drunken ass with hirings).
