I'm watching the 11pm viewing to see what comes down. They said they will get word during the telecast and will announce it when it comes. They also said they anticipate severe punishments... we shall see |

WTF!!!! Goddard got 10 games Gillies got 9 games Martin got 4 games Isles fined 100K no fine for the Pens Pens coach not automatically fined or suspended despite the fact that the rule says he should be. tHE quote from the league, "Martin and Gillies were attempts to injure players who were not able to defend themselves". I don't mind the 4 games to Martin. It is his second suspension for the season, so I can see why they gave 4. But Gillies gets 9 for an elbowing major???? I don't condone what he did, but when is the last time a first time offender got 9 games for an elbowing? Colin said the 100K fine was because the Islanders "need to control their players better". ARe you kidding? What about the Pens. The Isles had no player leave the bench so how does Blysma have control of his team? Colinblow is full of sh!t. |

Colin makes it up as he goes along... Matt Cooke is a repeat offender from the hit from behind and got what 3-4 games. Gillies is a first time offender and gets 9 games? Someone explain how that makes sense? |

How about controling all of the players who have taken advantage of us the last two seasons!!! Colin Campbell sucks moose c__k!!!!! And why didn't Godard get more for third man in??? |

Gillies didn't deserve 9 games. Everything else why not? It opens some roster spots for competition so that can be good. Haley has earned some playing time too for his role and goal. The NHL brass has a hard time being fair. You can't expect them, the same way most parents pick favorites. They never admit it, but it is true. Just ask others... |

A very calculated set of numbers there. Pens get the longest single suspension but the Isles are the only team fined. "Controlling the players" stems from the taunting. The fact that it was Gillies doing the taunting means he gets the extra few games. Isles can argue that there are no coaches by the team exit during the game, NHL can argue that the linesman told him to go to the locker room. You can clearly see the on-ice official point to the dressing room while he's pushing Gillies off the ice. Haley coming off clean is a nice surprise. |

If Bylsma was properly controlling his players how the Hell did Godard get on the ice? I think we all knew Campbell would throw the book at the Isles and turn a blind eye to the HBO superstars. The NHL's justice is bullsh!t. 9 games for Gillies, but compare his hit to Cooke's which earned him 4 games as a repeat offender. Martin didn't even hit Talbot, but it reminded some bleeding hearts of the Bertuzzi incident. That's all the excuse Campell needed - 4 games. F it. When do the Isles play Boston next? Take it out on his son. |

3.6 minutes a game seems about right. I don't know why we're upset. Martin jumped Talbot, and the cost is 4 games...well worth it. Gillies jumped a player than stood there and taunted him from 3 feet even though he was off the ice. Had he disappeared into the lockerroom it would've been 4 as well, but he stood there like a bully so it's 10. No biggie, Haley will be in the lineup, Martin comes back in 4 games and we'll be fine. I'm only upset that Bylsma didn't get the game suspension and the 10g fine. But I expected them to be lenient on them. It's ok, cause we KICK THE LIVING SH!T OUT OF THEM ON THE ICE. And that's what matter to me and makes me feel good about the whole thing. Let them rule the rules committee, because you know they are quite nervous about facing us one more time. Will Gillies suspension end before that game? |

Tom, your twisted sense of humor has me cracking up. Thank god I finished my coffee. I agree with everyone. This is ridiculous. I'd have no problem if they were cosistent but as I4C points out, they make it up as they go along. No suspensions in the Bruins/Habs game. Of course not. Colon Campbell's son played in that game.

the NHL hands out uneven punishments that why players like Matt Cooke do what they do they know they'll get away with it. the NFL does a better job officiating and disciplining players. what happened Friday night would have never happened in the NFL because the officials are competent and professional unlike NHL officials. but this is nothing new, ever since Bettman & Colon Campbell have been in the NHL front office the NY Islanders always dealt an uneven hand. Let's see what Garth says |
