Webby, I'm fine with the suspension of Martin. I'm even fine with the fine to the Isles. However, it was TWO TEAMS not controlling themselves in that game. How many crosschecks did Andy MacDonald take before he finally got in a fight? How long was Tyler Kennedy running around likea militant Dorothy at a gay pride parade trying to start a fight? What about Pascal Dupuis continuing to throw punches at Josh Bailey after they fell to the ice and Dupuis rolled on top? The Code says when one has a distinct advantage you stop throwing, and that happened BEFORE the Gillies hit. I have no problem with Gillies getting suspended, but someone will have to explain to me how an elbowing major + taunting = 9 games when the math for Matt Cooke is boarding from behind + leaving your feet + REPEAT OFFENDER = 4 GAMES. Gillies is not a repeat offender. This is his first suspendable offense. So was it 2 games for the elbow + 7 for the taunt? This is why Colinblow is a joke. He has no consistency. Remember when we heard about "repeat offenders" getting more games. Well, we already knew that was bullspit. Look at the Pheonix defender last year who elbowed Tavares and got the SAME 2 GAME SUSPENSION he received for doing the EXACT SAME THING 2 months prior!!!!! Here is the true equation to figure it all out: $h!+ty player + $hitty coach = sh!tty nhl executive or if you want it in flowchart form http://thehockeyzone.files.wordpress.com/2...sion-chart3.gif spinning wheel form http://grossmisconducthockey.com/wp-conten...elofjustice.jpg You can't put the geni back in the bottle and that is what Colinblow is trying to do. But you have to be fair to both sides and sorry, eliminating the Pens fine and their coach's suspension for what Godard did...no. I'd even be able to take the length of Gillies fine as more tolerable if Blysma and the Pens got the suspension and fine, but lets show precious Cindy's team more preferential treatment. In the end, the Gillies suspension doesn't hurt us. It means a better PLAYER in Haley will get to spend more time with us. But what cracked me up was watching NHL on the Fly last night and the commentators were asking "where is Haley's fine". For what? Is he the first player in nhl history to have 2 fights in one game? |

They should appeal the lenght of Gillies suspension. Show me the precedent of a first time offender getting 9 games for an elbowing major. |

I agree with all parts....I'm glad haley got off..even though there was no reason for him to even think suspension..but you never knew..and losing gillies..please, no biggie there. thats a blessing to us..we should be thanking the league..what are we really going to miss his big snarl from the bench, and miss losing the 3 min..hmm, how are we ever going to make that up? I only hope that islanders have haley still up here and not in b'port..that will be a travesty. He should be here the rest of the season..again, seeing if this guy is a one gamer or if he can duplicate his performance.. and martin..yeah your right..he was a repeat offender..did hit the guy from behind...and honestly, he wasn't really impressing much.. sorry, but for me, the only guy that showed any sort of toughness..haley..and he got off..I think martin needs to know how to play like him..I think martin and gillies need to learn alot more from a haley and konokpa..Those guys played tough but clean. I think thats what the bottom line was.. And yeah..Penguins got all of the players a** whupped on the ice..It was all worth it..I just hope next time, martin learns from this and hits the guy from the front..he is better than that. |

You are wrong about Martin. He's been playing his role well as a checking forward. He got what he deserved suspensionwise, but his play has been good. As for Haley, he will be up with the team as long as he plays well. If he does, great. If not, the Pitt game should not be used to cover other deficiences in his game. |

Without a doubt, appeal. I haven't seen ANY other suspension in league history of a 9 game boot to a first time offender. Does ANYONE have a contact # to NHL Executive offices. I will personally call to vent. |

yeah everyone more upset that martin got less for turtle talbot...some are even saying martin should be done for the season..so I guess this is right..justice..LOL. dupois even had something to say about haley...so I guess its okay, for dupois to grab at a guys face shield and hit him while he was down on the ice..seems to me, the pens were the dirty team..the islanders didn't hit anyone when they were on the ice, well except maybe gillies..but he is an idiot anyway and teams need one guy on their team like that..why should we be any different? |

Not a fan of Gillies so it's a so what to me. Martin I thought was fair. However, I think the next time an Islander who isn't a fighter gets hammered by the other team's thug, Gillies should hop the bench without blinking. What would it be? One more game on the suspension. Colin Campbell is a joke of an administrator. |

I have zero problem with the Gillies suspension and hope he never dresses for another game for us. He serves no practical purpose and just takes up space on the bench. What he did with Godard was fine. What he did to a hurt and prone player in the second period was not cool or tough or anything resembling a hockey fight. It was a cowardly thing to do and then he wouldn't listen to the refs trying to get him off the ice. Then he compounded it with his tough boy taunting act. He is lucky the suspension wasn't longer. The guy he was pummeling when defenseless on the ice has a concussion and who knows how much worse it was made by those extra cheap shot punches??? What pisses me off though is that Godard didn't get at least another game or two for being third man in. And why the f#@k do we get a team fine of $100,000 for not controlling our players when they obviously couldn't control their players with Godard leaving the bench to be third man in?????? f#@k the league and f#@k Colin Campbell!!! |

Mule, I disagree about Gillies. In a perfect world, you'd rather have somebody fill the enforcer role that is capable of playing a regular shift, like a Milan Lucic or a Chris Neil. Not all teams have that luxury. Maybe Matt Martin turns into that kind of enforcer for us in the future. Right now, we need Gillies. I'm not necessarily in favor of dressing him as often as we do, but when you play teams like Boston and Philly he's absolutely necessary. And when you play a team like Pittsburgh who is dirty and they need the dogs sicked on them, he's one dog I'd love to let loose. This team has taken much more abuse physically then it deserved over the last three seasons. Tavares especially. The league does NOTHING to protect us. Not just Comeau, but many other questionable hits and stick fouls over the previous two or three years. Enough is enough. |

GREAT JOB MSG, specifically Al Trautwig who UNLIKE Pierre McGuire, showed AND talked about the headshot to Comeau by Talbot and the laughing by Marc Andre Fleury which pissed off our Islanders. Al also was hard on Mario Lemieux calling his comments "EXCESSIVE". I'm glad that SOME people in the media watch alot of what BUILT UP instead of the chicken head douchebags like Pierre McGuire who only look at stats and jump on their soap boxes. Thank you Al Tratwig. I take back everything bad I ever said about you. Well, not everything. ![]() BTW, Dave Maloney and Joe Michelletti are being very critical of Gillies and Martin's actions. Rightfully so. |

in regards to marios statement..which was strong indeed...I can't wait to see the pens reaction in the next meeting bet the two...I wonder if the pens bring up more goons for that game...we shall see if that game is a "travesty" too in marios eyes.. |
