As per Strang. Snow looking to make a trade for some castoff.

Quote:

During the second period of last night's 5-3 loss to Toronto, Islanders GM Garth Snow confirmed to Newsday via text that he was trying to bring a veteran goaltender to Long Island.

As of 1 p.m. today, Snow said he was still working on a trade that could make that happen. The Islanders are in dire need of some stable goaltending with the recent loss of  20-year-old rookie goaltender Kevin Poulin.

Poulin went down in a freak accident during warmups last night and is out for the rest of the season with a dislocated left knee cap that will require surgery.

Snow will try to target a goaltender with NHL experience that is 3rd on the depth chart somewhere and/or playing in the AHL right now. However, Snow is not willing to give up a top prospect, so if he cannot make a deal come to fruition sooner than later, he'll ride out Mikko Koskinen until Nathan Lawson ) is ready to return.

Lawson, who is close to returning from an MCL strain in his left knee, practiced fully again today and is within a week of being ready to play.

22-year-old Koskinen, who made his unexpected NHL debut last night, will start tomorrow against Montreal at the Bell Centre. Joel Martin will back him up.

Would be a pretty funny if Dubie came back...but I think he's playing overseas.

So how many injuries thus far happened on NVMC ice? I wonder if it's a factor as well :dontknow:

Wang fixed the ice......right? Double the condensers, colder ice.....maybe SMG's crew just sicks?

"But the Coliseum became a repository for all the team's troubles, a convenient scapegoat. There were suggestions that no major free agent ever would set foot in such a decrepit place. At this point with all of the man games lost again this season and where we are in the standings does it even really matter??? Let's just ride it out with who we have and hope we get a cherry pick in the draft. If we had to endure another season of sooo many injuries we might as well reap the benefit of a good draft pick for it. I hope that this friggin' injury craziness goes away next season. The amount of injuries to one team two seasons in a row is almost incomprehensible!!!

And all this time we thought it was just limited to the shoulder. A Torn Left Labrun? That's 3 of the same serious hip injuries in one season.

Ya just know on draft day when they pick Larsson he'll catch a rut in the carpet walking up to the podium and tear his ACL while wrecking his shoulder in the fall.

Not for nothing the ice has been bad almost all season long. My father and I are always talking about it during the games. The puck bounces like a lacrosse ball would. Coliseum ice used to be good. Bad luck? Most likely. But the ice has still been shitty.

I gotta say, though this is bad, I love the kid's attitude. He just tweeted that he will come back stronger. Being only 20, I think he can rebound from this (I hope). He was one of the bright spots of this season.

A dislocated left knee cap that will undergo surgery means for a NHL goaltender

disaster is waiting to happen once this poor fellow does all the rehab to come back

It is never the same

yes, and if the islanders signed dubie, he would most likely have to clear waivers..hmm, I wonder if detroit would pick him up?

i read a report where Jonas Gustavsson from the Maple Leafs is a potential target

maybe the hockey "gods" want the Isles to have a top 4 pick. maybe that's the player that will turn this franchise around, lets just hope the Isles wont F it up.
