No worries, let's use this thread for all Islanders related trade deadline rumors, musings and news.

Also, for anyone who wants to monitor the twitter buzz from NHL insiders as it gets reported, open a new browser window with this page:

#isles Zenon Konopka may interest #mnwild; They need a center and nearly traded Derek Boogaard to #lightning for him last trade deadline

BAiley to Toronto???? For what???

I don't see the Islanders being SELLERS. WTF do we have left to sell? We can't trade Martinek if he's on IR and I don't know if he is, but I do know he's missed the last game with injury.

Other than 4th line grittiness in Konopka, what of ANY value do we have to trade that we are willing to part with?

I don't see the Isles trading Bailey, Grabner, Nino, deHaan, Mcdonald, Tavares, KO, Hamonic or Moulson...and we can't trade Streit while he's inactive due to his injury.

Anyone else we can deal and I don't care if we get a bag of pucks for them.
I miss these :cup: :cup: :cup: :cup: and want more of them

According to Lexhair, here is an exclusive peek into the NYI trade deadline day war room.

Something could happen, chances are nothing could happen. But the only thing I'm keeping my eye's open is any news of Schremp being claimed (since it was a 48 hour window) as there's a couple hours to go.

I want him off our team.

There is NO sense trading either Konopka or Martinek. They do not have much value. Snow should be trying to resign them rather than trying to get a 4th round pick for them. Just typical Isles deadline crap...always the seller. :disgraced:
Chris Botta: Ray, how come you are so critical of the Islanders?

Ray Ferraro: Because they the last time they won a playoff series, I passed the puck to David Volek!

Maybe Wang wants to save more money.
Either that or he's a ZENONphobe.

Better to stock pile those draft picks...we could a few more 3/4th rders so that we can trade back to get some mroe 6-7th rd picks.

Unless the get 2nd rd picks for the above mentioned I agree no sense in dumping them. Hell I dont even want Zeno gone....but if they are giving PA an extension and not Z I think that tells you which way we are going. Keep the strong voices down and just keep the people going with the plan.

Martinek has a good chance to go, IMO. He's always hurt and has at least some value to a team with injuries to their D.

I DO NOT want Konopka moved, he is the best fourth line center we've had here in a long time. And he WANTS to be an Islander (which, unfortunately, is not a common trait among NHL'ers).

Schremp will not be claimed, there are a dozen guys like him already on other NHL teams and he is not an upgrade. Just my opinion, but i would be shocked to see him move.

You never know, as long as we don't do something totally stupid like move Grabner I'm okay with a minor move or two.

Here is my biggest worry- Nielsen has been playiong so well lately he may generate some interest. Losing him would suck only because I think he has finally found his game.

I just had my laugh for the day.
On another board someone suggested trading Konopka so we could give his spot to Colliton next year.

Unreal!

I could stomach them trading Konopka even though I wouldn't like it.
But Colliton is a bust and a dime a dozen depth guy that's had enough chances.

I expect alot more musings today and hope to contribute some of my own that will make others vomit just like I did.

Konopka is a GREAT leader on the ice and in the locker room. the players rally around him. PLUS he WANTS to be here! How many players can you say that about on this team?

We can always trade Z and re-sign him in the offseason. Hell, nothing wrong with letting him know that's the plan

Great might be a bit strong but I like Zeno and hope he stays. What I'm saying is that Management has shown you how they feel about Z by signing PA 3 weeks ago. They clearly view him as expendable...maybe because he's "too" vocal in the lockerroom...maybe its just cause he likes to fight and Wang's rumor to want fighting out of the game...maybe he took Garths parking spot.

Right now you can't tell me the Isles are giving Z much move.

It's why they should sign him for next season, and because they should they wont. It's our way. I'm pretty sure him not being re-signed is because of the Wang edict of trying to rid the nhl of fighting. ZK must be number one on Wang's hit list. Just one more reason, and a huge one at that, that Wang should not own the Islanders or any hockey team. A man who knows nothing about hockey trying to change it just because he's against it? It's up to Snow to show the man that interest in his investment increase 3 fold since the Pitt game, and a smart investor would promote whatever will bring in more attendance. And toughness sells, and ZK is the man for the job, and a proud vet leader.

Botta has Schrempbeing claimed...thank god. Now move Martin to the 3rd line.

Im totally ok with them moving Martinek for a 2nd or 3rd but would love Zenon to be extended. Perfect 4th line center.

Uniondale, NY (Sports Network) - The Atlanta Thrashers claimed forward Rob Schremp off waivers from the New York Islanders on Monday.

The 24-year-old, former first round pick posted 10 goals and 22 points in 45 games for the Islanders this season.

He most likely became expendable with the emergence of fellow young forwards John Tavares (team-leading 52 points), Matt Moulson (27 goals) and Michael Grabner (25 goals).

The Syracuse native has recorded 17 goals and 50 points in 96 NHL games with Edmonton and New York since 2006.

Thanks Robbie. My family enjoyed meeting you on a few occasions.

wouldn't that be something. Get our RW 1st liner now instead of July 1. Sure hope there is some truth to it.

sounds more sad than he is excited to move on.

said something interesting...tat he's worked hard to prove he's NOT a perimeter player
and that his work 5 on 5 and play away from the puck was better.

He did not show that. I hope he hasn't read any of my overly critical posts on him.

Hope for better things for him down in Atlanta.
