We can always trade Z and re-sign him in the offseason. Hell, nothing wrong with letting him know that's the plan
Actually it is collusion and is against the rules. Can't have a verbal agreement in place like that. Can even hint at one.

There are a lot of rules in life. And then there is reality.

Glad we kept Konopka. Other than that, it was kind of a ho-hum deadline. For us at least. Martinek? Secound rounder? I can't believe there weren't a half dozen teams ready to pull the trigger on that one.
Schrempy- good luck son, hope you do well in Atlanta.

i was hoping Martinek would be gone, i would dump the fragile defensemen for a 2 or a 3 or a 4 or even a 5.
"hated" to see Rob Shrimp go see ya shrimp the Isles called up DiBenedetto today
overall Snow had little to offer the islander players are in two categories untouchable & unwanted. the players that had value no way would Snow deal and the guys he wanted to dump no way anyone wanted.

If Garth wasn't going to deal Konopka for anything less than a second-round pick, may as well announce contract extension tomorrow. #Isles

boy o boy, you guys could spin anything to make snow look stupid and in turn make yourselves feel better about the fact that you feel if you were managing this team we would be a three seed at the very worst.
It makes me vomit in my mouth.
19 this isnt directed specifically towards you, rather pretty much everybody on this site.
of course he would have traded martinek and konopka for crosby and ovechkin and stamkos. thanks for the translation that we sat tight cause we couldnt get enough... I could say that exact qoute "couldnt get jack for them, not worth it" at every other gm who didnt trade there entire team.

Then feel free to post elsewhere. A rather unneccessary blanket statement there, don't ya think?
I'm not sure why your panties are in a bunch, but as someone who has been far less critical of Snow than others on this site (because I think he's doing a good job of accumulating young talent- maybe not the best of developing it), I don't see what the big deal is in this thread about standing pat.
It was a no brainer. We didn't have any parts we were WILLING to trade that would bring back anything in return of value.
What would we get for an oft injured Martinek? What would Konopka bring us...a 3-4th round pick at best? I'd rather keep him and resign him if that is the best offer we get.
I don't know why anyone would be shocked or angry about our inactivity. Seriously, we all knew KO, Tavares, Moulson, Hamonic, Mcdonald, Grabner, deHaan and Nino weren't going anywhere and it was highly unlikely Bailey would. So who was left to trade that would bring anything back?
If people want to complain because we could have gotten more for the likes of Rollie or Wiz at the deadline...well, maybe Wiz, but did any big name goalies move at the deadline this year? I'd argue that Snow probably got market value FOR THIS YEAR on the Rollie deal. Probably could have gotten more on the Wiz deal if he held out...look at all the dmen that moved. Kaberle brought back a ridiculous price from Boston.
Still, I'm fine with what GArth did and didn't do at the deadline. We didn't have much options anyway.
Hope that vomit doesn't leave a nasty aftertaste.

The one deadline we were "contenders" Snow pulled off the trade of the season. And as of 2011 and probably every year from here on out, that deal didn't hurt us even a slight bit in the long term. However, that's the only chance he had. And until he improves the team better in the offseason, we won't get a chance to see what his real skills are at the deadline.

DarrenDreger- Interesting, the Islanders wanted a 2nd rnd pick for Konopka. Seems likely, because of asking price, the Isles will want to extend his deal.
I said the same thing yesterday. Question I wonder is: Is Snow thinking the same thing?

If pieces keep coming together like Grabner, Martin, and Poulin we may not have to deal at deadlines at all provided we assemble a quality defense to start the season. And if we do have to deal we'd be the ones giving up draft choices for the playoff push.

4cups, perhaps i am coming across wrong here also. I dont think we should have made a move, and frankly. I am not questioning snow at all. I would bet I am his only supporter on this site, I find myself defending him constantly.
what I find frustrating is that no matter what he does people spin it as he is incapable. he makes a move - we should get more. he doesnt make a move - they come out and say he is he is incompetent. He picks up grabner - it is a no brainer that anybody would have done.
In this case 19! whom I think is an excellent poster far better then me ;-) just spun snows comments to make him look like he is being deceitful and cartoonish. ( I am not even sure that is what 19 meant, but that is how i read it) It rubbed me the wrong way when woke up this morning.
For the record I am very happy we didnt make a move.
I cant leave this site cause you are all my only islanders friends (i live in manhattan) and I enjoy reading most posts every post. Every once in while I am forced to taste my own vomit and it is usually regarding snow comments which i think are unfair

I cant this site cause you are all my only islanders friends (i live in manhattan) and I enjoy reading most posts every post. Every once in while I am forced to taste my own vomit and it is usually regarding snow comments which i think are unfair
or my posts

boy o boy, you guys could spin anything to make snow look stupid and in turn make yourselves feel better about the fact that you feel if you were managing this team we would be a three seed at the very worst.
It makes me vomit in my mouth.
19 this isnt directed specifically towards you, rather pretty much everybody on this site.

Is the bulemia working? You're almost a 32 waist! Eventually you have to stop reading my thoughts and move onto a stable diet of 4Cupz.

"clearly it's Rick DiPietro's stupidity that's put the islanders in this situation getting into an altercation when a game was over..." Keith Jones on VS
"But the Coliseum became a repository for all the team's troubles, a convenient scapegoat. There were suggestions that no major free agent ever would set foot in such a decrepit place. We have two words for anyone making that argument: Fenway Park. History says free agents would play in an old boxcar if they got enough money and had a chance to win." - Mark Herrmann

I've never been a Snow basher as I think his hands are financially tied. His comments like what Sather said rubbed me wrong considering the opposite directions of the 2 clubs. And he definitely traded Roloson away too soon. Look at the repurcussions of that and the goalie snafus. Simple as that.
Sometimes people overanalyze too much.
